Buffaloes arrive in Tunisia for Sfaxien showdown

GREEN Buffaloes have safely touched down in Tunisia ahead of the opening leg of their 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup first round showdown with five-times Champions CS Sfaxien.

The Zambian envoys in the second tier of continental football landed in Tunis, the Capital City of Tunisia and subsequently took a two and half hour drive to Sfax – where the game is scheduled to be played at the 11, 000 Capacity Stade Taïeb Mhiri on Saturday.

According to the club mouthpiece, the army side will be accommodated at Hotel de Olivieres.

Delegation leader and Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Executive Committee member Lee Kawanu is satisfied with the reception they have been accorded by their hosts.

Green Buffaloes, akin to fellow Zambian envoys in the Confederation Cup Green Eagles finds themselves in an uphill battle of breaking the Arab jinx – that have bedeviled Zambian clubs for many years.

Buffaloes opponents are four and five times CAF Champions league and Confederation Cup winners, respectively. Their latest continental trump was in 2013 when they defeated DR Congo giants TP Mazembe 3-2 on aggregate to win that year’s Confederation Cup title.

Sfaxien are currently coached by a widely travelled dutch coach Ruud Krol.

sorry Buffaloes, we stopped taking away airplane blankets, you leave them, they wash them for next use. We are not in 80s when we used to grab “remembrance” from airplanes.
