BolaBet Zambia have launched a Community Football tournament named ‘Bola Yamu Hood’ where seven Communities will battle out for a chance to reach the final.
The development came to light during a press conference held at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.
The Betting Company has pumped in K2.5 million for the project that will see community talent get a spotlight.
BolaBet Zambia CEO Justin Palmer said the initiative was a chance for communities to showcase what they have to offer and a way for BolaBet to give back.
“We have been well received by the communities so it is our way of giving back. This is also an opportunity for some players who have been overlooked in the past to get a platform to showcase their talent,” Palmer told the ZamFoot Crew.
“Let’s work together to build from the grassroots, and maybe this will be something that is an opportunity for young footballers and those that are coming back to show what they have got.”
“If the community engages, If your local community comes out to support, hopefully we can make it happen each and every year, maybe we can include more communities and maybe in one or two years bring in the women and let them showcase what they have,” he added.
The tournament format will see eight teams from seven Communities compete for a chance to win K15,000 and play at final a tournament at Woodlands Stadium.
Each team participating in the tournament will get a full set of playing kits, a Cash prize and some equipment.
The second placed team will get K7,500, K5,000 for third place and K2,500 for fourth place.
K1200, K1000, K750 and K500 will be awarded to teams that finish fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
The tournament will start on 22 June 2024 in Bauleni with the final set for August 10th at Woodlands Stadium and will be broadcast live on Diamond TV.
