Bazo heroics keeps Kalampa’s survival hopes alive…As Buffaloes win Buchizya Mfune’s last league match
Striker Alex ‘Bazo’ Ng’onga continues his heroics as he netted a brace to make sure Nkana remains in the race to survive relegation.
The former Power Dynamos striker who has been on song for their arch-rivals since making a switch from Arthur Davies Stadium midway through the season scored a goal in either half to lead Kalampa to a 2-0 win over Team Kopala, Buildcon.
The win takes Nkana to 41 points and with a chance of surviving relegation on the final day when they face off with fellow strugglers, NAPSA Stars but they need either Indeni or Young Green Eagles to drop points.
For Buildcon the loss means they passed up an opportunity to make a return into the top four as they remain stuck in 7th place with 46 points.
In the early kick, Green Buffaloes beat relegated Kitwe United 2-0 thanks to a brace by in-form striker Nicholas Mulilo.
The match was also Buchizya Mfune’s 600th match for Green Buffaloes and the final game of his career playing against a team he started his career with, Kitwe United.
The Zambia Super League legend was also given an emotional and beautiful send-off ceremony at the start of the match with a guard of honor by players from the two teams.
The win takes Green Buffaloes to 6th place with 46 points and has a chance to play continental with a win on the final day of the season.
On Friday, Power Dynamos secured their stay in the Superleague with a 1-0 win over Lusaka Dynamos thanks to a Luka Chamanga lone strike.
