Asanovic back in the country ahead of the AFCON qualifiers

Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic has returned from his homeland, the ZamFoot Crew understands.

Asanovic will be in the stands on Sunday to watch a super league match on the final day.

“Yes, he is back. He has slight issue with his visa but it’s been sorted,” a ZamFoot Crew said.

Asanovic travelled to his homeland after Zambia’s last friendly matche against Benin.

The 53 year old Chipolopolo boss was in Croatia for five weeks now.

With the Ivory Coast 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers set to start this month Asanovic is expected to name his squad for the two upcoming fixtures.

The 2012 African Champions will start their campaign with an away fixture against the 2015 Champions, Ivory Coast on May 30th.

Zambia will then host Comoros on June 14 before a back-to-back engagement with Lesotho at home on September 19 and in Maseru eight days later.

The Enock Mwepu captained side will then host Ivory Coast on March 20th, 2023 before wrapping up their campaign away in Moroni with a date against Comoros on March 28th.

Zambia will be desperate to make it to the continental showpiece after missing the last three consecutive tournaments.

Zambia will be looking for an 18th African Cup of Nations appearance.
