ANOTHER RECORD ON THE CARDS FOR COACH CHIYANGI…remain unbeaten in 8-games as Chipolopolo Coach

08 Games
06 Wins
02 Draws

After guiding Chipolopolo to a 5th title of the 2019COSAFA(Council of Southern Africa Football Associations),Aggrey Chiyangi is a game(against eSwatini) away from breaking another milestone achievement of qualifying Zambia to the 2020CHAN(African Nations Championship) tournament,in his capacity as Interim coach, while remaining unbeaten in 8-assignments after taking over from Belgian,Sven Vandebrock in March 2019.

Coach Aggrey Chiyangi has won six(6) and drawn two(2) in 8 games beating all Southern African teams paired against including the process, including 2019AFCON(Africa Cup of Nations) finalists Zimbabwe and Namibia.

It is, however, his tactical approach and style of play that has not gone down well with some sections of soccer fans, in spite of massive results.

The former Zanaco FC and Nkana FC coach are fondly known for taking a cautious and reactive approach during matches, which some fans have described as ‘unattractive’ style of football.

Aggrey Chiyangi likes to play with a compact defensive half and wait for opponents to lose concentration before unleashing his sucker-punching goals, mostly in second halves.

His trademark reactive approach has seen Zambia come back from behind to force a 2-all draw against Malawi, and also defeat Botswana 3-2 at home, after trailing by 2 goals respectively.

At Club level, Chiyangi replied within two(2) minutes for Green Eagles FC to force a 1-all draw away at Orlando Pirates in the Caf Champions League.

Chiyangi has since broken the jinx of defeating Southern African teams after Zambia failed to qualify to the 2019AFCON following back to back defeats to neighbors Mozambique and a draw away in Namibia.

Below is Aggrey Chiyangi’s record since March 2019:

Zambia 4-1 Namibia ( 2019AFCON Q)

South Africa 0-0 Zambia (Friendly )

Zambia 2-2(4-2pen.) Malawi (2019COSAFA QF)

Zimbabwe 0-0(2-4pen.) Zambia (2019COSAFA SF)

    Zamfoot , thanks for highlighting A C.
His record so far is what it is.
For sure , an international defeat will come sooner or later, but show me a coach who never lost.
To me, his tactics have been spot on.
He has delivered the goods when it mattered.
But more than that a good coach makes his players play above their usual level. Wishing AC more success.

gather the team well in advance

  4. Kizzy Moonga says:

For me the means to an end may not better than the end itself. Spain played their usual flamboyant football against Russia at the wp1i World Cup but at the end of the day, the Russians were the Victor’s. Let AC continue grinding out desired results.

  5. Sibs says:

So far he has a good record. Looking at the opposition played except may be Zimbabwe, Zambia should be wining those games.
Lets not be quick to heap praise when the Coach has not been tested yet. Will see the next 2 AFCON qualifiers if he has what it takes to Coach at higher level. I wish him well,

  6. Kapotwe says:

Your Chigangi has messed up the beauty of the Zambian game. Zero flair, low scores, etc. I don’t like him.
