AFCON winner returns to Chipolopolo

Scorer of Zambia’s winning penalty in the 2012 African Cup of Nations final against Ivory coast Stopilla Sunzu has been summoned for this month’s friendly match against Israel.

Israel will host Zambia on November 17, 2022.

Stand in Chipolopolo Boys coach Moses Sichone has called 24 players for the match.

Zambia will resume the qualifiers for Ivory Coast 2023 AFCON next year in March with back to back games against Lesotho.

  1. Firstly, glad that Sunzu is finally back. That is a very positive move because there is no reason why he should have been left in the wilderness given his experience and ability.

    Would also not mind seeing Kennedy Mweene back in the lineup honestly. He hit a really good patch of form not too long ago and goalkeepers are now playing into their 40s.

    Secondly, I am not seeing a defensive midfielder in these call ups. The backline for Zambia has been a problem in recent times, bringing in Sunzu will help shore up the center of defense (still have not seen our fullbacks live up to expectation), but we need a midfielder to play a role similar to the one Nathan Sinkala played in the past.

    Thirdly, who is the new captain?

  2. Am greatly happy that sunzu is back in the team and hope he will not shun 5his call up. How I wish too kabaso chongo was brought on board as a right full back. Otherwise this looks to be a good selection given the players we have at the moment. Sichone will surprise us see here with a good performance
