Kabwe Warriors head coach Numba Mumamba says he is anticipating a tough match against Red Arrows in the 2024 ABSA Cup final.
Kabwe Warriors saw off FC MUZA in the semi-finals to book a place in the final.
Mumamba who was speaking at a press conference held at ABSA house on Friday morning said his side went back to work immediately after securing a place in the final.
“I think we don’t even have much to say. We got down to work immediately, we qualified for the final. It will be a tough game playing against the incoming MTN Super League Champions,” Numba told the ZamFoot Crew.
“We are very much prepared. In terms of experience we have combined the young and senior players. It’s a great moment for the team to showcase what they have. I am sure Mundia is eagerly waiting to get on the pitch , wear that armband and lead his side to victory.”
When asked about social media reports of a ten buses being organised by a named Kabwe business man to ferry fans to the game, Numba said the move is a big motivation for the team.
“I think on our part it’s a great motivation. It tells us that the people of Kabwe are really behind us and doing everything to cheer us, and we will do everything to make sure we make them happy,” he said.
“He (Chisi Mbewe) has all the experience, he has won the league and been in the final before. There is nothing like having pressure. We have the players and technical benches that can handle that pressure. You don’t need to put yourself under pressure,” Numba added.
Godfrey Binga who sustained an injury in the semi-finals has recovered and is ready to take part in the final.
Meanwhile skipper Clement Mundia was full of praise for Numba Mumamba who he says is an inspiration for the team having won the tournament before back in 2017 with Zanaco.
“I think as a player, growing up I always wanted to play at a high level. Sitting here and being captain of Kabwe Warriors is a motivation and an encouragement,” he said.
We are not under pressure, we have been encouraged and inspired by him. He has won it before . We have prepared adequately and are ready for the match.”
Kick off at the National Heroes Stadium is set for 15h30.
The winner of this year’s ABSA Cup will pocket K800,000, with K350,000 reserved for second place.
The ABSA Life Player of the Tournament, Top Scorer, and Golden Glove will each get K25,000.
