ABSA Cup 2021: Enock Sakala Jnr – an example of confidence hard work

Confidence is a very important ingredient of everything you do in life, Football is no exception to this rule.

One player who seems to have it in abundance is Enock Sakala Jnr, ZESCO United’s new kid on the block who seems to have a knack for great goals and even better celebrations, a great showman we may add.

Sakala has a huge surname given by his father, Enock ‘Londole’ Sakala is a Zesco United legend. Prior to Saturday’s ABSA Cup semifinal, the youngster told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview that he wanted to open his goal account in the competition having made his debut in the quarter-finals against Kansanshi Dynamos.

I want to help the team to defend the title and also since it’s my debut in this tournament, I want to score

In the semifinal against Sharp Konkola Blades he came off the bench to replace Jesse Jackson Were in the 59th minute and just two minutes later he was almost on the score sheet as he rattled the crossbar with a venomous header, he was injured in the process but stayed on the pitch and played through the pain.

In the 78th minute, the 19-year-old finally got his goal, held his run, picked his spot, and finished in style with so much elegance.

ZESCO sealed their final slot with a 4-0 win and with no player yet on two goals, Sakala has a huge chance to finish as a top goalscorer of the 2021 ABSA Cup.

Made his first start for ZESCO United on 28th November 2020 and scored in the 1-1 draw against Green Buffaloes. He has scored six goals in the league and 7 in all competitions so far.

With the huge ABSA Cup final coming up on Saturday against a tricky Lusaka Dynamos, and a K600, 000 plus a trophy at stake, Enock Sakala Jnr may just add to his tally, and who would not like to see one of his stylish celebrations?

He may also be extra motivated by the fact that the player of the match walks away with K15, 000 and K25,000 for the player of the tournament all within his reach depending on his performance on that day.
