Daka is on the road in replacing what Eto’o was, says Chipolopolo coach
Zambia’s head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic has high hopes for Patson Daka and believes he can emulate the achievements of another sharpshooter from the continent.
Micho has compared the 22 year old with Cameroon and Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o.
The Kafue native has enjoyed a sensational season in front of goal for the Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, having scored 27 goals in 31 games across all competitions, including an incredible 20 strikes in 18 matches in the country’s Bundesliga to make him comfortably the league’s top scorer.
‘I would say he’s on the road to replace what Samuel Eto’o once was in representing Africa and African football,’ Sredejovic told the UK Mail Online
‘He could be compared to Sadio Mane or Samuel Eto’o, with the level of skill and speed that he has, with the sense for space, sense of positioning, in the right place at the right time.’
While Micho is heaping praise on the former Kafue Celtic, Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos striker, surprisingly yesterday was the first time the two have worked together.
Daka missed Micho’s first two official matches against Botswana as he was recovering from an ankle injury.
The CAF 2017 African Young Player of the Year will be leading the line for Zambia on Thursday against Algeria in a Cameroon 2021 African Cu of Nations qualifier at Lusaka’s Heroes Stadium.
