The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it is comfortable with Zambia National Soccer Team Coach, Wedson Nyirenda.

FAZ Secretary General (SG) Ponga Liwewe urged soccer fans to ignore assertions to ‘suck’ the Chipolopolo Coach.

Liwewe says FAZ has not made any decision so far concerning the future of Wedson Nyirenda.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Liwewe says FAZ will accordingly inform the nation if need arises to replace the Chipolopolo Coach.

He cautioned the fans in the country to rally behind and support the services of Nyirenda and the Association.

Meanwhile, The SG FAZ has disclosed that it received a postmortem report from the coach on the performance of the Chipolopolo boys on the just ended African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament held in Morocco.

Mr. Liwewe said the nation will be informed or updated on the future of Coach Wedson Nyirenda.

Zambia was booted out in the semi-finals after losing 1– 0 to Sudan.

    • Truth @Km we need more forward thinking people like you “thinking logically” it is not about the colour of the Coach but what the Coach can realistically offer. If Wada will fail let him fall with FAZ by his side not neglected as it was with the CHAN preparations. Stephen Keshi took Nigeria to higher heights amid insults from the locals, for once We as Africans must be realistic with our own Brothers and give them chance to thrive.

      • Yea Keshi was on point tactically. Never had shocking revelations such as risking your reliable player already on a yellow card for a rooky who iz unproven on the i ternational / national team level. Wedson failed to do basic things at CHAN

        • Did you watch Keshi against Zambia in 2013 and read the comments on the Nigerian blog? A Coach is human He can make a mistake but the rule of thumb is you can not judge a Coach based on one game! There are several factors you must look into and consider. statistics also are an excellent measuring bar! These are the same sentiments we were voicing during Harve Renard and Lwandamina’s tenures! The only vivid action we are good at is firing, we do not analyze the whole situation logically.

  2. Wedson Nyirenda is clue less. Nigeria equally didn’t have adequate preparation but they played their way into the final.

Namibia a squad captained by a lawyer who has to concentrate on both careers & comes from a league less football association gave Nyirenda’s team a tough time.

LET’S BE REALISTIC. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW DARK WEDSON IS. Performance in these jobs is key….. Evidently if we stick with Wedson Chipolopolo will moss out on the next AFCON. A WHITE SKIN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WADA BEING DROPED AS HEAD COACH. We have Chambeshi who will gladly take over!

We only have a few weeks before facing Namibia again…

  3. First things first, FAZ is mostly to blame for Wada Wada’s failures at Chan. The man was not given what he had asked for before the Chan tournament. Even the trip to Mongu was too much for Wada to ask for. Faz must not fire Nyirenda but do him justice by attaching him to one the big clubs in Europe so as to have a better understanding of our beloved game of football. Let us learn to invest in our local coaches. Whether or not we like, the guys in Europe have a better understanding of the game and they will definitely have something to share with Wada. The biggest culprit at Faz is the Secretary genaral Mr. Liwewe. He is a big disappointment and Faz can do well to replace him if they want to achieve anything. I suggest they hire the services of the recent past Zesco secretary who was fired while in south africa with the team. He can do a better job than Liwewe. Secondly, how can Faz honestly announce the date of the start of our league without releasing the 2018 season fixture? And why start the league before the AGM takes place? All these are as a result of having an incompetent person in the office of secretary general. LIWEWE MUST GO!!!

    • Speak please! None of us is supporting Wada Wada but We want the Authorities to be responsible as it might turn into a roller coaster kind of scenario with the hammer always falling onto the Coach “Kaboom”. Believe you me even an excellent Coach will fail under these circumstances.
