ZSL WEEK 33 Preview: Power Dynamos vs Green Buffaloes headline Saturday fixtures
The MTN/FAZ super league this week enters week with interesting fixtures lined up. The battle for survival is getting hotter with City of Lusaka
‘s fate almost sealed only three other teams need to be confirmed before or by week 38.
The race for the title and top four on the other is also getting hotter by the week. Zesco United have already assumed leadership of the table.
KABWE WARRIORS VS ZANACO
Kabwe Warriors are coming from a loss at the hands of Zesco United in a rescheduled midweek fixture that saw their six game unbeaten run come to an end, Sensational Zanaco on the other hand are coming from a title winning weekend after beating Napsa Stars two goals to one to lift their first ever Barclays cup title.
Zanaco will go into this match with going top of the table at the back of their mind as win will temporarily give them back leadership as Zesco play on Sunday. Warriors also know a loss will bring them problems and is not in their interest as they might find themselves in one position and one point above relegation should Nchanga Rangers and Mufulira Wanderers win their games.
Zanaco have only recorded one loss on their last six games with four wins and one draw, Kabwe Warriors also have only lost just once in the last six games with three wins and two draws.
NAPSA STARS VS MUFULIRA WANDERERS
The 2018 Barclays cup finalists would like to quickly get over their loss in the final and get back to winning ways but facing a relation threatened Mufulira Wanderers is not an easy fixture.
Coach Linos Makwaza says hiss team has put their loss to Zanaco behind and want to focus on finishing in the top four. Wanderers on the other urgently need those points if their survival quest has to really take off, A win for them and a draw or loss for Nchanga will take them out of the relegation Zone.
Napsa Stars are undeafeted in their last three games same as their opponents only difference is that Napsa have two wins while Mighty have drawn all three.
Rahim Osumanu expected to be thhe main man for Wanderers while Youremember Banda and Austin Banda are expected to be focal points in Napsa’s attack.
Napsa are without the services of Collins Sikombe and Chitiya Mususu who are put injured .
REAL NAKONDE VS LUMWANA RADIANTS
Real Nakonde will be relishing a fifth win of the season but Lumwana Radiants is a stubborn side. CoachZeddy Saileti’s team.
Real Nakonde are the nearest to City of Lusaka on the table and are many pundits next favourite team to face the ZSL hammer and they have lost their last five games .
Radiants on the other hand have lost their last two games something they will be keen to re-write because they had won all three of their games before that.
GREEN EAGLES VS KONKOLA BLADES
Green Eagles have made their intimidating Choma independence stadium a fortress but they face a Konkola Blades side that’s fighting for survival .
A win will take Blades to 30 points provided the two teams above them lose they will be within three/four points of moving out of the relegation zone.
Green Eagles also knows that they are not safe from relegation and with their recent poor form they will fancy winning this home game.
Blades have won four points from a possible 18 in their last six games while Eagles have only corrected three from the same number of games.
Social media has also been buzzing with news that the Blades Chairman told the players yo survive relegation or they all stay at the club and bring it back to the top flight, added motivation maybe?
RED ARROWS VS NAKAMBALA LEOPARDS
The air men have not had a better team since 2013, Coach Honor Janza hard them believing in themselves once again. Nakambala Leopards this season have drawn 19 times, More than any other side in the league and with only six games to go and only seven points between them and relegation zone they know a win is what they need.
Red Arrows are undeafeted in their last four games and two draws with two wins and two draws while Nakambala have drawn all their last three games.
Red Arrows look like the favourites for today’s game but Nakambala want to put a good distance between them and the relegation zone.
POWER DYNAMOS VS GREEN BUFFALOES
This is without any doubt the biggest game of the day as sixth place Power Dynamos host third placed Green Buffaloes.
Power Dynamos may have been leading the table if not for their many draws (16) and after failing to win any of their last three games, Abayellow want yo get back to winning ways being at home.
Green Buffaloes on the other hand know that a win will reduce the margin at the top of the log as they continue in the quest of their first league title since 1986.
This will surely be an interesting match and the winner can only be decided after 90 minutes.
FOREST RANGERS VS NCHANGA RANGERS
Forest Rangers will host relegation threatened Nchanga Rangers at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in an early kick-off, With Forest almost safe from relegation it’s Nchanga who are in panic mode as a loss and a win for Wanderers will take them back into the relegation zone.
Forest despite playing just to improve the position where they will finish in at the end of the season have not lost any of their last four games and with home advantage are favourites win this encounter.
Nchanga seem determined to stay afloat and have not lost any of their last three games with Zikuru Adams at the centre of that resurgence.
BUILDCON FC VS NKANA
Team Kopala are on 9th position but a win can take them as high as seven and within and within touching distance of top four.
Their opponents on the other hand Nkana are beaming with confidence after back to back wins and have a chance to go to third on the log.
The return of Striker Ronald Sate Sate Kampamba seems to have helped Nkana and the two time golden boot winner will fancy increasing his goal tally but Isaac Isinde and Moro Lamine in that Buildcon FC defence are not the easiest of opponents.
Buildcon also have their own arsenal with CAF African player of the year based in Africa top 30 nominee Geoffrey Sserunkuma at the heart of it all alongside Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba.
It is another tricky fixture and can go either way. The fans are surely in for a good afternoon of football.
