ZSL: Nkana, Lusaka Dynamos win away on match day 1
Power Dynamos on Saturday afternoon came from behind to beat a determined Napsa Stars side 2 – 1 in a game played at Arthur Davies stadium.
Power started the game on a high as they seemed to start from where they left off in the Charity shield with some good movement on and off the ball but a swift counter attack saw Matthews Macha squeeze in a shot from outside the area which Joshua Titima failed to deal with despite getting a hand to it.
Power did not look deterred in their pace with the goal and some good work on the left by Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba saw him provide a second assist in as many games to set up Larry Bwalya who rose high to score with a header. Bwalya again benefited from a Mubanga assist when Power won the Charity Shield on Wednesday.
Napsa looked good on the counter attack and had a goal disallowed for offside and moments later Patson Daka showed individual effort when he wrestled for a 50-50 ball to pounce on a resultant loose ball to score from within the box to record his first goal in over a year.
In the early kick-off, substitute Thomas Mbolela scored the only goal of the game when Lusaka Dynamos beat newly promoted Mufulira Blackpool 1 – 0. Former Nkana captain Sydney Kalume was the man of the match after a good performance in midfield to hold off the speedy Blackpool attackers.
Chipolopolo teen striker started for Perry Mutapa’s Lusaka Dynamos and was unfortunate not to have his name on the scoresheet after his shot from within the box came off the upright.
Ten man Lusaka Tigers have started life in the elite league on a high after they beat visiting Nchanga Rangers thanks to a Jimmy Sondashi own goal.
Nkana were also victors away against Nkwazi with goals from Shadreck Musonda and Walter Bwalya.
The game between Red Arrows and Nakambala was not played after Arrows were excused as their Air-force side’s players are still out on military training.
