ZSL Match Preview: Power Dynamos vs Lusaka Dynamos

Sleeves are being rolled up, battle grounds defined, stakes are known and fan emotions are soaring! It’s the Dynamos Derby where 4th placed Lusaka Dynamos have made the trip to try and square up to second placed Power Dynamos who are only a point better than the visiting team in the week 20 fixtures which should signify that more than half of the league games have been played yet the two teams involved are both two games behind on played games with major thanks to the CAF competitions that kept Zesco United and Zanaco Busy.

HEAD TO HEAD

In the last 15 encounters between the Dynamos, Power have taken wins on 7 occasions while Lusaka have won 3 times with 5 ending in draws. The last time Lusaka Dynamos faced Power Dynamos was in the reverse fixture in April this year when Lusaka Dynamos opened a two goal lead early then capitulated that to be trailing 3-2 up until the final whistle when they salvaged a point after an absolute blitz from Power Dynamos in the second half.

Within the 3 wins that LD have taken in this encounter in the past only one happened to have been at the Arthur Davies Stadium.

FORM GUIDE

The home team get into this one on their best run of form since the start of the campaign with 4 wins in a row while the visitors come in after two frustrating draws at Kabwe Warriors and at home against Napsa Stars. Both teams have been winning though Lusaka seem to be losing their ‘mojo’ of late. Perhaps new signing Fwayo Tembo could be the thing that sparks Lusaka back into gear for their campaign.

Power are also buoyed by a new arrival in towering international enter half Isaac Shamujompa who could form a formidable partnership with Billy Mutale as the pair have played together in national colors already. Shamujompa was this week unveiled with minutes to kick off before power Dynamos overcame the threat of Kabwe Warriors at the Arthur Davies Stadium.

BY THE NUMBERS

For the most part the win and draw tallies of the pair are similar except for Power Dynamos drawing one game more than Lusaka Dynamos.

Power Dynamos (7) have one clean sheet more than Lusaka Dynamos (6)

Power Dynamos (4) have failed to score one time less than Lusaka Dynamos (5)

Power Dynamos have failed to score at home only once while Lusaka Dynamos have failed to score away from home on 4 occasions.

At home, Power Dynamos score an average of 2.11 goals per game which is a goal every 43 minutes of play. Or basically a goal every half.

Away from home Lusaka Dynamos are scoring at a rate of 1.11 goals per game which is a goal every 81 minutes of play. Or basically a goal per away game.

At home Power Dynamos are conceding at a rate of 0.67 per game which is a goal every 120 minutes of play (a game and 30 minutes on average).

Away from home Lusaka Dynamos are conceding at a rate of 0.78 goals per game or a goal every 115 minutes (a game and 25 minutes)

The bookies and football statisticians would all this a draw game given how likely both are to score one and not concede another.

But as per usual I say Bola ni 90. Adios.
