Zim women arrive for AFCON qualifier
The Zimbabwe Women National Team have arrived in Zambia for Wednesday’s Ghana 2018 Africa Women Championship first leg, final round against Zambia.
Zimbabwe travelled by road and crossed into Zambia at the Chirundu Border around 14:00 hours.
The lady warriors will be lodged at Zambezi Lodge in Lusaka’s Mass Media area.
Winner over two legs will qualify to the Ghana 2018 Africa Cup of Nations which takes place in November.
Zambia edged out Tanzania in the previous round while Zimbabwe overcame Namibia.
The match will be played at Nkoloma Stadium with charges for open wing being free while only the VIP area will attract a K100 fee.
Kickoff is at 15:00 hours.
Meanwhile Women National Team coach Bruce Mwape has named his final 20-member squad for Wednesday’s Ghana 2018 Africa Women Championship against Zimbabwe to be played at Nkoloma Stadium.
Mwape told FAZfootball.com that his lasses would be ready for Wednesday’s clash that could take the team closer to qualification with Zimbabwe standing in Zambia’s way.
Skipper Misozi Zulu is battling for fitness after having picked up an injury in training.
“We are ready for the Zimbabwe game although our captain Misozi is nursing an injury. We will wait for the doctors to tell us whether or not she will make it,” Mwape said.
Mwape however still has depth in the prolific Barbara Banda and the promise of Rachael Kundananji while seasoned campaigners in Rhodah Chilsehe and goalie Hazel Nali will add to the balance in the team.
Zambia hosts Zimbabwe on Wednesday with the return leg on Sunday in Harare to decide who grabs a ticket to the 2018 CAF Africa Women Championship in Ghana.
Kickoff for the match is 15:00 hours with entry to the open wing declared free while the VIP will attract a K100 charge.
