Zesco United into Barclays Cup semis
Zesco United laboured to a 1-0 win over ten-man Kitwe United in their Barclay’s Cup quarter final played at Nkana Stadium on Wednesday.
Zesco United will now face Lusaka Dynamos on the semi final. The other semi-final will see Napsa Stars facing Zanaco.
Kitwe United was reduced to 10 men after Mosses Lolozi was sent off for a handball incident on 43rd minute. Striker Jackson Were however failed to convert the penalty and instead he skyrocketed his penalty.
First half of the match ended 0-0 with both teams threatening at each other.
In the second half Zesco United came in with full force after coach Zlatko withdrew Kongolo and introduced Lazarus Kambole.
It didn’t take sometime when John chingandu backheeled a lose ball to Defender Fackson Kapumbu who shot direct to the Kitwe united but the goalie failed to negotiate with the ball and fluffed it into his own net. Zesco United was 1-0 up in the 63rd minute.
Kitwe united tried to come back into the game but they could not break resistant Zesco United defence..
The victory for Zlayko Krompotic’s men halted a six match winless run in all competitions while it was the first defeat Kitwe United 25 matches this season.
