Zega Wabantu saves Zambia after stunning comeback in West Africa

Asec Mimosas 1-2 Zesco United  (Agg. 2-2)

Zesco United  produced one the come back of the first round after a thrilling 2-1 away win over Asec Mimosas in the second leg of the CAF Champions League to advance to the group stage.

Trailing by a goal from the first leg, the Zambian Champions were stunned in the 9th minute after they conceded a penalty scored by Badié Gbagnon.

With aggregate now at 2-0, and against all odds, Zega Mambo  or Wabantu  pulled one back thanks to Fackson  Kapumbu who scored in the 29th minute.

After the interval, Zesco kept on pushing for a winner and coach Tenant Chembo replaced Jesse Jackson Were with experienced campaigner Winstone Kalengo.

But it was Lazarous Kambole who got the breakthrough in the 65th minute to give them lead.

Despite the home side pressing for an equaliser in the dying minutes, Zesco managed the game very well bringing in Misheck Chaila to help close the game in the last 10 minutes.

Zesco advance to the group stages on away goal rule.

With Zanaco dropping to the CAF Confederations Cup, it is a swap of roles from last season.

Nkana and Green Buffaloes  bowed out after they failed North African jobs.

Zesco United XI: Jacob Banda – Simon Silwimba, Solomon Sakala, David Owino Odhiambo, Fackson Kapumbu – Kondwani Mtonga, Anthony Akumu Agay, John Chingandu, Lazarous Kambole, Lameck Banda – Jesse Jackson Were
