Zanaco off to Morocco to face Wydad Casablanca

Zambian champions ‘Sensational’ Zanaco have left the country for Morocco where they will play Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League final group stage match.

The Numba Mumamba coached side left the country this afternoon and will have to connect through Nairobi and Amsterdam before heading to Casablanca where they will arrive Wednesday.

Zanaco beat Wydad 1 – 0 when the two teams played at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka thanks to an Enerst Mbewe early goal.

It’s a match Zanaco cannot afford to lose and they will bank on their impressive away run that has seen them draw against Al Ahly and beat Coton Sport.

However the Moroccans have an impressive record at home and Zanaco will have to show a lot of character to pick a result.

Zanaco go into the final round of games leading group D on 11 points but will need at least a draw to secure a place in the quarter finals.

They could also qualify if second placed Al Ahly who are on 8 points fail to pick a win against group whipping boys Coton Sport.

The game will be played on Friday 8th July 2017.
