Zanaco include 2 new signings on Champions League squad

Zambians Champions Zanaco have unveiled their CAF Champions League squad.

The bankers have named two new players in the squad.

Right full back Taonga Bwembya from Mufulira Wanderers and former Lusaka Dynamos hitman Kennedy Musonda are on the roaster.

Zanaco have lost key players in Rodrick Kabwe, Isaac Chansa and Aaron Katebe from last season’s title winning squad.

Squad player Aubrey Funga, who was spotted attending trials in South Africa and Zesco united bound Fackson Kapumbu have been included in the team as well.

But there’s no place for the want away striker Davy Daka.

The Numba Mumamba coached side are currently in Chipata for pre- season.

Numba is believed to be assessing trialists in Chipata including two Congolese players and a West African midfielder.

Should they impress, they will be added to the squad though the bankers will have to cough about $5, 000 per player to get registration from CAF

The 7 times Zambian Champions will face Rwandese side APR in the preliminary round of the Champions League over a two legged tie.

  1. Could someone correct me if I’m wrong but is this not less quality players than the ones they have lost?

I would think they would have learned something from Zega about looking beyond Zambian borders for quality players.

    • Very true ba Steve. These guys are clearly not as ambitious as Zesco. They want to participate in Champions league and not compete. They’ve lost some pretty good talent.

  2. If you thought that Renard is a crap mentor watch today’s game and and many more that his Moroccan side will be playing at AFCON 2017 and judge him afresh. This statement does not in any way imply that he will win his encounters. However, it wants you to critically look at his overall tactical approach to the game and the impact his philosophy has had on Morocco. There we go Zambia and indeed Africa.
