Zanaco to face Rwandese side in CAF Champions League
Zambian Champions Zanaco will face Rwandan side APR FC in the preliminary stages of the 2017 CAF Champions League.
The bankers will host APR on the weekend of 10-12 February, 2017 before a return leg in Kigali a fortnight later.
Should the Numba Mumamba coached side navigate over the two legged tie then a mouthwatering potential tie against George Lwandamina’s Yanga of Tanzania awaits them. Young Africans (Yanga) has to negotiate past Comoros side Ngaya on match day 1.
For Zanaco, the pressure is on them after Zesco United reached the semi finals of the 2016 edition.
Though there hasn’t been any confirmation on transfer news just yet, reports from Sunset Stadium indicate that the bankers are on the market for tall striker and a giant holding midfielder.
Zanaco’s goal threat came from all over the pitch with strikers Seith Sakala and Fashion Sakala accounting for 21 goals between them while Rodrick Kabwe and Isaac Chansa also chipped in with the latter being the best scoring midfielder in the league.
At the back, led by the 2016 Zambian Footballer of Year Ziyo Tembo, the bankers only lost three games
