Zamfoot team of the week: Zanaco winger named player of the week

The MTN/FAZ Super League entered week 16 over the weekend and for the first time in over two weeks all ten matches went on successfully as Lusaka Dynamos retained to action and recorded a vital win.

New Monze Swallows seems to have found some inspiration as they keep improving and nearly shocked Green Buffaloes who needed a late goal to rescue a point.

And of course it’s not a complete MTN/FAZ Super League week without the Zamfoot team of the week. The Zamfoot crew picked another best eleven of the best performing players over the weekend.


GK- Scot Ngokene, The Kabwe warriors goalkeeper makes his debut in the team of the week after keeping Power Dynamos from scoring with some very good saves thereby keeping a cleen sheet.

RB- Gift Zulu, The Nkana rightback was probably the best player in the goalless draw between Nkana and Nkwazi. The former Forest Rangers man was compact and kept Davy Kalandanya at bay . He was also Nkana’s player going foward creating alot of chances.

CB-Kelvin Owusu, The Nkwazi defender is improving in each game and last weekend kept one of the most prolific strikeforce, Nkana at bay with some good interceptions and clearances.

CB- Alex Miyoba, The New Monze Swallows defender was the darling of the crowd at Nkoloma Stadium away from the George Chilenga out of this world strike. Miyoba was all over Buffaloes attackers and made sure Swallows kept a clean sheet.

LB-Mwelwa Sakala, The Power left back impresses in each game he plays . In Kabwe he had another great game.

CM- Moussa Lemisa, The Lusaka Dynamos midfielder may not be a popular figure in the Lusaka Dynamos set up because of the number of star players but he has been one of the best midfielders in the league this season. Lemisa top up his great performance with the only goal of the game earning Lusaka Dynamos maximum points.

CM- Jacob Ngulube, The Nkana midfielder was all over the place and clearly won the midfield battle against the inform Sebastian Mwansa. He made inch perfect passes and was good in helping the defence deal with the Nkwazi threat.

LW- Spencer Sautu, Talk of being the stand out player in a team then look no further than Green Eagles Spencer who seems to dealing well with the responsibility as he keeps on being impressive week in week out. Sautu scored a late goal to earn Eagles three points at home thereby scoring two winning goals in a space of seven days.

RW- Enerst Mbewe, The Zanaco speedy winger was on fire as he led Zanaco to a four goals to two win over Kitwe United away in Kitwe.

CF- Nelson Maziwisa, The Kabwe Warriors striker had a great game over the weekend which he topped off with scoring the only goal of the game earning Warriors all three points.

CF – Rodger Kola, The Sensational Zanaco striker scored his second goal for Zanaco this season in just his second game. He seems to be looking to get back to his best which saw him get a ticket away from Sunset to end up even in Belgium. Kola also set up the Enerst Mbewe goal.

Coach of the week : Tenant Chilumba finally takes it home and had shrug off some very stiff competition from last weeks winner Fewdays Musonda and of course Zanaco’s Dabid Chilufya.

Player of the week : Enerst Mbewe, The Zanaco winger scored a goal and set two another two as Zanaco cruised to a four goals to two win over Kitwe United.

Special Mentions

Boyd Musonda, Danny Sibanda, David Owino, Wayne Museba, Thole, Austin Muwowo, Obed Musumbuko and Derick Mwansa all had good games and can easily replace anyone in this team in their respective positions.
