Zambian players abroad : Augustine Mulenga shines as Mbola and Lubambo suffer huge defeats
Zambian players abroad had mixed results over the weekend. South Africa based winger Augustine Mulenga was involved in two goals while Lubambo Musonda and Emmanuel Mbola suffered huge defeats.
In South Africa, Zambian duo of striker Justin Shonga and winger Augustine Mulenga put in a great performance to help Orlando Pirates end their hoodoo over SuperSport United with a 3-1 victory at Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening.
Mulenga started the match and assisted the first goal while Shonga came in as a second half substitute and was involved in the third goal. Former Power dynamos striker Gamphani Jones Lungu came on to play the last five minutes of the match.
Elsewhere, former Sensational Zanaco midfielder Salulani Phiri played the first 80 minutes of Polokwane City’s one nil win over Free State Stars.
Former Chipolopolo boss Wedson Nyirenda’s Baroka FC suffered a one nil loss at the hands of Chippa United. Baroka have now gone four games without a victory.
Former Zanaco striker Mwape Musonda played the first 63 minutes of Black Leopards one nil loss to Bloemfotein Celtic.
In DR Congo, Zambian duo of midfielder Nathan Sinkala and defender Kabaso Chongo put in a full ninety minute shift for TP Mazembe in their CAF Champions League quarter final first leg encounter against Angolan out-fit CD Primeiro de Agosto. Rainford Kalaba was not part of the match day squad. The match ended in a goalless draw.
In Austria, Zambian midfield ace Enock Mwepu was a second half substitute for Redbull Salzburg as they made it seven games without defeat after beating SKN St. Pölten. Striker Patson Daka was not part of the match day squad.
Former Green Buffaloes striker Brian Mwila will have to wait to make his Austrian Bundesliga debut as he was an unused substitute for SCR Altach who suffered a one nil loss at the hands of TSV Hartberg.

In Russia, Former Nkana striker Evans Kangwa played the first 72 minutes of Arsenal Tula’s big four nil win over Krylya Sovetov. Russian midfielder Sergey Tkachev scored a brace while Montenegro attacker Luka Đorđević and Zelimkhan Bakaev chipped in with a goal each.
In Sweden, Mphande Youth product Edward Chilufya was an unused substitute for Djurgadens in their one nil loss to Brommapojkarna.
