African clubs in the CAF competitions with Zamnian interest took off to a bright start in the first legs of the quarter finals of the 2017 of the Champions League and Confederations Cup.

Ferroviaro Beira 1-1 USM Alger
Former Chipolopolo international Thomas Nyirenda was rock solid in the Ferroviaro Beira midfield when he his Mozambican club was held 1 – 1 at home by visiting Algerian side USM Alger.
USM Alger looked like they would run away with maximum points but it was Congolese midfielder F Kanda who netted a late equalizer in the 89th minute to give Ferroviaro something to fight for in the second leg.
31 year old Nyirenda who played for Power Dynamos before trekking to Mozambique played the entire game.
Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 Wydad Casablanca
Chipolopolo number 1 Kennedy Mweene was an unused substitute when Mamelodi Sundowns managed a 1 – 0 victory at home against Wydad Casablanca.
CAF CONFEDERATIONS CUP
Al Hilal Obayed 1-2 TP Mazembe
TP Mazembe are in a very strong position to qualify to the semi-finals after they picked an away win against Al Hilal in Sudan.
Kabaso Chongo, Nathan Sinkala and Rainford Kalaba were all named in the starting line-up.
Kalaba played 60 minutes while Kabaso and Sinkala completed the entire game.
Given Singuluma did not make the bench.
SuperSport United 0-0 Zesco United
As already reported, Zesco United played out to a goalless draw away in South Africa against SuperSport United.
