Zambia U20 National team: The new Era

The U20 National team will on Wednesday start their title defence against Uganda and the country is very expectant and excited at the same time.

Before the tournament kicks off let’s look at the team and some of the questions that have raised and ofcourse the players to look out for.

COMPARISONS WITH THE LAST U20 NATIONAL TEAM

The new team is basically approved U17 squad that the technical bench is looking at developing into a formidable team like their predecessors, So can we please spare them the huge expectations and let them perform without pressure. The People want to know who the next Fashion, Edward Tiger, Mwepu, Pastson is but each team is different with its own strengths and weaknesses.

The boys also have some very fantastic players who will bring sparks to Nkana and Arthur Davies stadium. The experience in the last team was so massive despite the team being an U20 National team. For most of these boys the U17 COSAFA Championships was their first international outing.

WHERE IS GAMPHANI JONES LUNGU, KUNDA NKANDU, DAMIANO KOLA AND OTHERS

You will recall that at the start of the residential camp 45 players were called into camp and all of a sudden the number reduced to 25 before eventually moving to the final 20.

20 players were dropped at once not because they were not good enough or anything but because their details in the system and the documents did not collaborate. In the instancy of Gamphani National Assembly took wrong details to FAZ for his registration from thhe information on his birth records and other documents.

Gamphani Jones Lungu

The technical bench were not so keen on taking a gamble after what happened barely a year ago at U17 level. Since they had little time to correct the information or re-inforce they decided to work with what they had .
