Zambia U20 match against Swiss champions hangs in balance
The planned friendly match between the Zambia U20 national team and Basel will not take off tomorrow after the Swiss side requested to have the match played on Thursday.
The ZamFoot Crew understands that the champions of Switzerland who today had another friendly match against Esbjerg of Denmark are keen on making the game materialise.
Fwayo Tembo’s former club is looking at making the game against the Zambian lads the last of their pre-season tour before getting back to league action on Saturday.
The Zambian team is scheduled to play Las Palmas on the same day.
“They (Basel) have requested to play on Thursday so there are talks with Las Palmas to move the scheduled match to Saturday as the Zambian camp want to have both matches played,” a source in Spain told the ZamFoot Crew.
He also added that everything seemed to be going as planned in Spain with the team training well.
The Beston Chambeshi drilled team had a free afternoon and they took time to watch Tenerife B play against Club Deportivo Santa Ursula in Tercera Division of the Spanish league.
The team will play their first practice match on Tuesday.
The following practice matches have been lined up for the boys:
1. Tuesday, 31st January – vs Tenerife U20
2. Thursday 2nd February – vs Las Palmas U20
3. Monday 6th February – vs Real Madrid U
