Zambia U20 intensify COSAFA preps as Numba trims squad
Zambia U20 National team have intensified their preparation ahead of this year’s COSAFA U20 Championships. Numba Mumamba’s lads today had their first friendly match, Coming up against Super league defending champions Sensational Zanaco.
The U20 had a good showing but were no match for the bankers who thrashed them five nil. Young Zanaco midfielder Timothy Sakala opened the scoring early on before Congolese talisman Souleyman Lokwa could triple the bankers advantage with a brace.
Boyd Mwangelwa and Adamson Mulao scored a goal each to complete the young Chipolopolo’s humbling demolition.
The the team is mainly constituted by the COSAFA U17 winning squad and a few additions, Ngosa Sunzu iss the only player returned from coach Beston Chambeshi’s all conquering U20 squad that won the AFCON early this year.
The Young Chipolopolo will meet the Ugandans in their tournament opener at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on December 6.
Matches will be played at the Arthur Davies and Nkana stadiums in Kitwe.
Numba has also trimmed the squad from 45 to 25. COSAFA U17 Championships top goalscorer Martin Njobvu has made the cut together with Nkwazi youngster Lameck Banda.
Ngosa Sunzu and Gamphani Jones Lungu have also made the 25 man provisional squad.
