The Zambia U20 national team on Saturday continued their impressive unbeaten run when they swept aside a challenge from Ecuador who they beat 2 – 0.
Bestone Chambeshi made five changes to the team that played in the final game of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament but that did not deter his lads from picking their 12th win in 13 games with the only loss coming at the hands of the Barcelona B side.
The African Junior champions were leading at half time via a 30th minute goal scored by Edward ‘Tiger’ Chilufya.
Zambia dominated the game and could have extended the lead after restart when Chrispin Sakulanda cut into the box from the right to curl a shot to the far post but missed the target by inches.
Zambia were looking more purposeful in attack and a run by Mwepu was picked by a lone pass from midfield which saw him dash into the box to slot the ball past the on-rushing keeper for Zambia’s second.
The South Americans were the runners up in their continental tournament which concluded in February.
On their way to the final, the young Ecuadorians handed 3 – 0 thrashings apiece to Argentina and Colombia.
They were stopped by Uruguay in the final who beat them 2 – 1.
The young Zambians next play hosts South Korea on Monday.

On paper the four nations tournament being attended by Senegal has better quality teams as compared to ours.
We shouldn’t flatter ourselves. Portugal’s loss to a team we wired does not mean anything. The real test is (Zambia v Portugal). NOW that’s the game the whole world will be watching. African champions against one of Europe’s finest.
England, Portugal, South Africa, S.Korea, Equador, Uroguy, Guinea & Zambia will make the quarter finals 🙂
I cant believe u left out Senegal!!?
Well, they have the height fighting mentality, desire to win at all costs & that may just be their down fall.
# wanting to prove that they can get over Afcon failure will be their self inflicted enemy
Thx for the info. kindly share a link where we can see how these guys (Portugal) play.

Let’s not sink low to levels of mediocrity. If you are a real fan accommodate other opinions & challenge them to substantiate their claims.
Zambia’s removal from the under 17 competition for fielding (2) over age players (In Madagascar/ was it Mauritius????) was hard for me to take. I was very disappointed & that bitter feeling always tells me the technical team will always guard against such carelessness which may dent the image of our beloved Chipolopolo.
congrants boyz for thrushing honduras 4 – 1.you that you are the side despite the sleep up when we played s.korea
