Zambia U17 national team give Zanaco a tough time

Mauritius bound Zambia U17 national team today played two practice matches with super league side Sensational Zanaco at Sunset Stadium as part of their preparation ahead of the COSAFA championships.

The Young Copper Bullets held Zambian Champions Zanaco to a goalless draw in the first match.

Zanaco featured a strong squad with the likes of Reuben Ayub, George Chilufya, Felix Nyaende and U20 AFCON winning midfielder Boyd Musonda.

The boys threatened on many occasions and could have taken the lead but lack of experience failed them in critical moments.

In the second match, Zanaco introduced the likes of Saith Sakala, Ksame Attam, Langson Kapumbu, Damiano Kola, Isaac Chansa and Kunda Nkandu, The junior Chipolopolo also had a completely different side and also gave a good account for themselves but this time Sensational Zanaco managed to score two goals through Andrew Kwiliko and Boyd Mwangelwa.

Zambia is expected to leave for Mauritius on Tuesday where they will face Madagascar, South Africa and Mozambique in the group stages.

The young guns are being coached by Numba Mumamba with Charles Bwale and Perry ‘The Principal’ Mutapa as his assistants.

  1. Positive thinking says:

Just in case someone from FAZ reads this blog:

My recommendation for FAZ is to build a master schedule that shows all the national team matches and commitments. The schedule should include the U17, U20, U23, and senior mens and womens national teams.

Also included in that schedule should be when teams go into camp, when teams get announced, when they travel, what bills have to be paid. Then you need your logistics guys or whoever to start preparing for the whole year. Also the financial folks should lay out the cost of all these events. That’s the first step in planning. FAZ should have an idea of their expenditures at that point and can also set milestones with a plan for the future.

Organization is killing us. You can’t neglect the U17 like this and expect to continue to reap success at U20 level in future

  2. Is isaac chansa back at zanaco?

Subject this boys to MRI Scan before they are disqualified again.

  4. Redblue says:

Is lsaac chansa still zanaco player? it seems as if this was in 2014

  5. TWAFWANE says:

The selection is fake, FAZ don’t know what they are doing……

You need 2 months at least to make the team now its like you had players already.

There is no proper foundation plan at FAZ, its just the matter of time….
