Zambia get interesting 2018 Word Cup qualifiers draw

The Chipolopolo fans will be up for some exciting games in the qualifiers for the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup after Zambia was drawn with top African teams Algeria, Nigeria and Cameroun in the group stages of the qualifiers.

The Chipolopolo have a huge task ahead to overcome perennial contenders at the World Cup.

Zambia are the only team not to have qualified to the World Cup in the group.

Zambia first game is a home tie against the Super Eagles of Nigeria before the Chipolopolo travel to Cameroun.

  1. At the end of everything the table will be arranged in alphabetical order like this

    Algeria
    Cameroon
    Nigeria
    Zambia

  2. any thing is possible as long as one believe, even the other teams know that All we have to do is get all nine home points at and hope the other teams kill each other which will be likely this is the group which will prove that we are up there among the best.

    • I love that ‘everyone kill each other.’ I am laughing at how tough this group is. Lions, eagles, foxes and bullets.

  3. Interesting, exciting, mouth-watering and nerve-cracking.This is the group of death, but we can still upset the tables if we play with the best of our ability. We must collect maximum points in all home matches. Let’s wait and see.

  4. Well this is a fair draw and its interesting coz to qualify for the tournament a team need to beat the best team. This should particularly be good for Zambia if they don’t make it top of the group, it simply means they are not just good enough. Of course its a well known fact that World Cup is not for taka taka teams but teams with dynamism and strong desire to excel. So let the game begin…

  5. Intresting, exciting, mouth-watering and nerve-cracking.This is the group of death, but we can still upset the tables if we play with the best of our ability. We must collect maximum points in all home matches. Let’s wait and see.

  6. It is good to be back…….

What a group. Caf and fifa are not serious. Nigeria, Algeria, Cameroon 3 teams from 2014 world cup in the same group. This is just bad.

    • awe sure ba Kamanaga nabesa na ma-lucky.
No wonder our soccer standard in Zambia is improving on a daily basis.Thumps up Kamanga.By the way, keep G.Lwandamina. He is an excellent coach. He is genius too!!!He can hold two roles concurrently and finish both successfully.

        • Man, hope it was not a blunder to vote for Kamanga. So far he is done nothing as far as bringing some solid improvements to our National team-Chipolopolo. I am afraid that if things continue this way,he will be fired way faster than he came.

  7. Algeria seems to be the best/strongest team in this group. They are presently the best team in Africa, they play attractive football, they are world cup qualifier expert too just like Nigeria and Cameroon. They parade some of the best players not just in African football but world football the likes of Riyahd Mahrez(the dude is a world class player), Yacine Brahimi, Sofianne Feghouli, Islam Slimani and others.
Algeria will be a very difficult team to beat whether home or away.

  8. If we can’t beat a group of fishermen team in Guinea Bissau, how do you beat Algeria that has all French born players like that Leicester city player? The only way this current Zambia forces a draw with the likes of Nigeria is if Nigerian Fa continues to screw up. Useless Cameroon is another draw at home at best. Osama bin Laden Algeria will destroy us both home and away. Useless Kamanga can’t do what a kindergarten kid would do in his position, that is fire this useless local coaches and get us a foreign coach that understands tactics to win games. When was the last time Cameroon even had a local coach? This pathetic Kamanga will be greeted with a rude awakening soon. He needs to start doing what he was elected to do and it’s start with hiring a legit coach.

  9. With THE Chicken team selection. at least one game Zambia will be butchered by at least 5 goals to zero especially by Algeria. It will be an achievement if Zambia will even win a match in this group.

  10. zambia can still make it if we can stop considering Salulani Phiri as a national team material in place of Fwayo or Chisamba.

  11. I see guys writing “nice test for zambia, you must beat the best to be the best, test of true character, anything is possible”.

Truth is this group B is no test for Zambia. This is suicide. No need of giving yourselves false hope. This only ends one way “Back to the drawing board for QATAR 2022”.

It is only ignorance and show of patriotism that will make anyone believe Zambia have a chance against Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon.

  12. The first thing that serious teams start doing immediately after such draws is to start compiling as much info on opponents for analysis. We are barely three months before playing Nigeria and we still don’t have a clue about when, or if, we shall have a coach in place. Whoever is eventually appointed will need time to know the players, instill his “philosophy”, monitor players abroad and locally among other things. We’re dead short on time if you ask me.

  13. Hahahaha!! Let us pull out and leave the qualifiers the three big guns of African Football, let us not waste their time of traveling for points that they are assured of.

  14. With poor selection and a useless technical bench FIFA has done us a favour by lettin us kno wht we r lacking.Lol even a plate has eluded us.#NiceDraw

  15. you have no business in da world cup if you start vibrating fears against the soo called super powers by african standard. Algeria is the easiest to beat in this group if you have a good referee on the day. Cameroon is the toughest in this group.

  16. All odds can be defied. Who gave us a chance in the final again Ivory Coast? Who gave Leicester a chance to even winjthe EPL? Lets see what happens.

  17. Hahahaha… I am back again. Wow it’s been a while. Since the 2013 nations cup I guess.
Zambia get ready for some azz whooping from all the teams. NIGERIA will qualify for sure.

    #TeamNigeria
    #TeamWestAfrica

    • Are you drunk? Keshi is dead Nigga. You are as pathetic as we are, so don’t remove a log from one’s eyes before you remove yours. You guys suck too with all you overrated stars.

      • That’s correct Tc Soccerman, Nigeria National team sucks just like our National soccer team.
I just like how Kalu responded after the opponents in our group were finally known and hope this will be the case for Zambia this time around. This is what he said ” World Cup draw is always difficult. Today’s draw no exception for every team and every group. Group B , Chipolopolo has had the better of Cameroon and Nigeria in the past. Algeria has always given us some sleepless nights. Prepare early, put everything in place and get ‘good’ results and set the pace in first two games then you are up and running. The bigger the names of the opposition , the better Zambia plays. Have confidence in this group of players and you can see what happens. Anything can happen in this group. Teams will get points off each other and that can be good for Zambia. Believe in yourselves. It’s tough but it can be done.

    • You are even dreaming you are the worst in the group at end it will be.

      1 Algeria
      2. Zambia
      3. Cameroon
      4. Nigeria

  18. Pleaz I beg the association not to pic these players from cosafa bcoz they re pathetic and premature, assemble the strongest squard and play friendly games especialy europian nations that’s wen chipos wil wire this teams with expertriate coach.

  19. All four teams in the group are past Africa Cup of Nations winners, and it might require the slimmest of margins to come tops and book a place in Russia.Nonetheless, one reason I love this group the 4 teams are very good teams so no one will rely on any team to benefit point all 4 want the ticket so anything can happen

  20. very tricky group for me all four teams hav equal chance of qualifing if the tems get their home worke done right. but with algeria a little bit supirior in terms f form as t now.but it an 50 to 50 affair

  21. Nigeria will get 3 points against Zambia,Cameroon 4 and Algeria 6. So Zambia total points will be 4 points . So bye bye world cup 2018 for Zambia .

  22. Its important to maintain a proper world ranking ,if Cameroon and Nigeria had a better ranking they wouldn’t be in this situation , as for Zambia, you got what you deserved based in your rankings and poor showings against the like a of guinea Bissau.

  23. This draw was unfair on a strong Algeria , it should swap Algeria with Senegal . I would hate for weak teams like Senegal qualifying for a world cup just to go there and add numbers.

  24. who told you senegal is a weak team?, if there is a weak team it should be algeria. Senegal hv performed in da world cup better than any of the teams in this group. We need teams that will go to russia, perform and give africa more slots. This is the reason why i pray Senegal, Ghana and cameroon should qualify to russia. they can go past their quarter finals record. Algeria, code i voire, egypt etc are world cup flops, they only buldoze superiority in africa. Zambia wil beat Algeria with ease, but senegal, is tough!!!

    • i wanted to call you a zombie and i discovered your name is zombie…. What happened in 2010 worldcup qualifiers???? ALGERIA trashed you home and away(3-0 aggregates) and you are here talking nonsense. Ozuor

      • Zombie is talking about performance at the world cup, not the qualifiers. Indeed Senegal has a better record than Algeria

  25. Zambia the shock 2012 winners hahah thats what other sites refer to zambia regarding this group..zambia the Shock 2012 winner.. you guys are nothing but a fluke you cant compare yourself to the west period

  26. We have been easier groups and not qualified, i am not worried about this group.

    Healthy group for Zambia.

The challenge remains the same 100% focus 100% effort.

  27. Zambia cannot beat minnows Guinea Bissau, they have never played worldcup football yet they think they can beat three teams who have represented Africa in the last two worldcups.

there is nothing wrong with dreaming — keep on dreaming.

  28. We need a new coach and good selection otherwise we’v been put on the chopping board waiting to be chopped by our on chicken lwandamina. He must go

    • when last did your black midget lift AFCON????? 1982 when my grandmom was still a virgin…… I respect ZAMBIA cos i have seen a photo of them lifting AFCON 2012…. If you can show me a photo of GHANA lifting any cup or drums at all i will respect you…. Kwasiaaaaaa

      • Is there any virgin nija? See the pedigree of the team – winning Afcon is the ultimate but even in modern times look at how many times the decent nation of Ghana (not any world famed fraudulent country ) has been at the finals of Afcon. That is pedigree. One time fluke win is like Greece winning the EURO in 2002 but has not even qualified again since then. There are some parallels here. Is Greece better than England which has not won the EURO RECENTLY? Use your head to think. Be analytical & at least show some level of common sense. STOP Living in THE Fools Paradise. Educated minds are needed for such discussions. Empty headed minds cannot reason beyond their noses.

  29. We need serious players not school boys like boyd, katema, luchanga & co. Thts why a neutral coach is needed. Bring back Jacob & mayuka then find a strong partner 4 sunzu with proper full backs. We shud be hard to beat like Atletico or Leicester then we can go far. Othrwize with the current crop kuwayawaya fye. #morning

  30. Hahahaha ati i thought u were a zombie and checked and saw indeed ur name is Zombie……. Bro change that name and find a better one coz that one not gud for ur soul!! Who thinks Ghana and Senegal and Cameroun will qualify. Reality is Algeria will qualify from our group unless Kamanga makes wholesale changes to the technical bench now now before things get worse. Problem with football is these guys cant be forcebly removed if they arent performing. Fifa will come with their interferance policy. Otherwise football now pa Zed is at its lowest and we need to act fast. Removr chicken and get a better coach, AK lobby government to support you on this!!!

  31. gentlemen with lwandamina and his technical bench we re out, we have the players to qualify us but lwandamina will not use them. The expatrate is needed is mbola finished than boyd difensive paring we need to be serious cameroon, nigeria, algeria i dont think zambia will get more than 3 points

  32. If current team was playing with the spirit and passion of 2012 I would have dreamt of us qualifying. To think we can qualify when we can’t beat namibia is foolish thinking.
We need a lot of work within this limited time if we are to stand a chance of qualifying. And its time AK did less of talking and more of walking the talk.

    • Not yet. The war begins when you are hammered by the West Africans in your group. Then you would know what is meant by PEDIGREE, not a fluke afcon(in modern times – hehehehehehehe ). Just wondering if your nation existed in the olden times. Still wondering why you were not represented in the olden days. Probably engaged in guerrilla warfare.

  33. Hey foreign guys from Ghana, Nigeria and elsewhere, please, debate issues without calling each other names. As you can see most fans here have no hope in the team, it’s unlike zambian mentality. It has never happened before. It’s time for countries that have never represented Africa at World cup to do so. May the best teams qualify.

  34. We need a new couch who will select players on merit, use experienced and skilled players in such games. Not getting under 20 players for high profile games. George should exit national team and remain with ZESCO…..bring a new foreign couch FAZ.

    • Chale Egypt no be cool chop ooh. That game in Cairo this November is the likely decider. If we dont win it, the group might go down to the wire.

  35. Zambian players are talented, but need mental toughness and a proper understanding of game management.
    For example:
    – Mweene’s rushed long throws turn Zambian possession into a 50/50 contest.
    – If you are 2:2 away and in the last minute of stoppage time you hold the ball (play the table, others will slip up).
    – If you are last man, in the last minute, outside the 18 area, make the professional foul. So what if you miss the next two games, take one for the team. You are replaceable!!
Zambia already has the team to progress. Mental toughness is better caught than taught! Everything rises and falls on Leadership (The COACH).

  36. Looool.@TCSOCCERMAN. Even with 9 men,Nigeria will beat zambia hands down. We are not in the same class pls. You should be arguing with the likes of Somalia and south sudan.
Even Fifa already know that zambia is coming last in this group. Bet me we will beat zambia home and away.

  37. @Selfmade. We are talking about countries that have something to show and you are mentioning Ghana. What have you achieved? Afcon when only 4 countries compete? LOOOOOL… Biko park one side.

    • Hahahahaha @NONI. That Nigeria left back is it Umeze was raising his for offside and watching Salah trying to pick his spot to slot. Salah was the only threat in both gameS. u couldnt be Egypt to qualify but u can beat Marhez, Slimani, Feghouli, Soudani and Brahimi who score for fun. Nothing less than 4-0 in Algiers if u are going to play that chicken back 4 like u did against Egypt.
When was the last time U beat Cameroon uh. For Zambia, we know it is 6 points for Naija. Thus your only hope for maximum points.
Am feeling sorry for this wonderful crop of Nigerian players. The only meaningful tournament they may
get is AFcon 2019. Sorry but Algeria is something else

    • You & Mumbi (missing for some time ) initiated the ugly debates on the various sites of West Africa. You in particular, were the the first person to comment on each & every posting on Ghanaweb. You were halted when the West Africans decided to flood zamfoot to counter the insulting remarks by you every now & then. I am glad you have learned a lesson that even with our deep passion for the game, we are collectively Africans & Should Have Some Sort Of Decency towards Each Other. I,for one, regret having made SOME remarks l did not believe in their authenticity but just for argument sake to throw hard balls at you paradox & mumbi. I admired ROK & POSITIVE THINKING so much so that l had to change my rantings on Zambia.
Long Live African FOOTBALL & May The Best Teams Represent Africa in 2018

    • Why couldn’t you qualify when only 4 countries were playing afcon? Or you did not have a country then? hehe hehe
.OR YOU Were Fighting THE Biafran war or engaged in guerrilla warfare?
When only 3 countries were representing Africa at the Mundial, Ghana could not me it then. Now we are in. The last three world cups have seen us there. Hoping for the fourth. Are we discounting those we hope represented Africa in the olden days? They were the best at the time. Joining them now doesn’t make us better than them.

  38. I Like group B the best is to chose the players Chamanga ,Jacob mulenga,Isaac chansa, katongo C, mbesuma, kalengo, chisamba, mbola, nkausu ,bruce musakanya, mayuka ,Muthali ,Josep Musonda, kabaso, lubambo musonda luchanga, Jackson mwanza, sate sate, kalaba R, Nathan, singuluma, Goalkepers, Jacob, danny munyau and Kennedy mweene.
No children to the start line up Please Ba kamanga this is our last happiness we have lost pafula since 2012 na COSAFA yasupilakumo.

Those players playing the COSAFA have failed to prove themselves. Pack them excluding Donashano, Luchanga, Danny Munyau, and Sautu. keep them pa bench. In this world cup qualifier.

In Jesus Name I beg U Ba FAZ.

  39. We need a miracle to qualify. We are the only team in the group which has never qualified…it’s not our league based on current form and available talent

  40. This group is tough, I wanted to have Ghana our daily bread in our group coz 6 points would have been secured.
Paradox, how are? Its good my brother in law NONI Niga is back on ZamFoot. Am now waiting for his sister Super Faucon of Nigeria.

    • yea good to be back my step son MUMBI….. I will be here throughout the duration of the qualifiers…..Pls tell ZAMFOOT to stop deleting most of my salient comments…. Those comments can help you top group iwe.

    • With your daily bread in same group, you could not qualify. Without your daily bread, what would happen to you. You will be roasted alive by Algeria, Nigerian & Cameroon. I don’t think you could even draw a single game, home & away. SORRY. ANOTHER EXIT FOR THE WORLD CUP Even 2022 on Qatar is out of reach as your rankings may put you in pot 4 or you may not be seeded at all. GOOD LUCK IN 2026.

    • Mumbi bro. am fine. its bad that FIFA didnt give us our daily bread ghana. I wanted to go back and make noise on that virus infested website ghanasoccernet.

      • See my comment above re “daily bread” . The Cosa experts are in trouble again. I just cannot imagine when the 2012 fluke champions will represent Africa on the world stage. MAY THAT DAY NEVER COME till Jesus Christ takes us home. Your daily bread has been three for the past three consecutive meetings. WHEN OH WHEN, WILL THESE BOYS EVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY? 2026, May be.The first time these chipolos get to the world cup, l will retire f r om all football activities, without a NY reservation. Paradox might not live to see th ad the day the Chipolos qualify for the world cup. AFCON IS THEIR ULTIMATE DESTINATION & they achieved a fluke one.that is it.kaput.schloss.

      • Expecting you.even if you don’t show up, we are here with you, brother. If Mohammed will not move to the mountains, then the mountains will move to Mohammed.

  41. @naija guy, noni or what eva morons you are. where were u when ghana was wining those trophies then time. yu just learnt how to play soccer, won some few trophies recently with some juju and can’t even qualify anymore, and you are here exercising your ignorance and stupidity. when its football, nigeria must bow for ghana. check the records between ghana and nigeria you idiot, and stop the cheap talk….. cameroon and co. will finish off your dead juju team!!!

    • Oh chaley my comment didnt call for insults…. I just asked that you show me a photo of your black midgets lifting AFCON TROPHY, thats all….. Like i said, i have that of ZAMBIA, CAMEROUN? EGYPT, NIGERIA, COTE D’IVOIRE, etc…. But that of GHANA i dont have…. Pls just help me with the photo.I will need them for a research work….. GOD BLESS YOU

      • Bro, Nigeria didn’t even qualify for afcon so chill. At this moment everyone has a mouth to yap, but at the end of the day REALITY will set in. Haha

  42. The best will get is 7 points the worst 6 points. So does AK think we can still qualify?
Will beat Nigeria and Cameroon at home and atmost force a draw against Algeria. This is based on history. So can we qualify with 7 points? We need atleast 12 points to make it as group leaders. Can we with the current shambolic administration. They are a puff of smoke.

  43. We going to collect a minimum 6 points each at home to Nigeria and Cameroon and probably one point against Algeria. With this permutations can we qualify to WC 2018? The least a team needs is 12 points to have a chance to qualify. So the issue is, can we collect point off the other teams away from home? I don’t think so. I will not belittle any team but this is how it’s going to pan out. The team that will be able to collect Full points at home and half away is going to win it.

    • Hahahaahaaa Was it not this Badosqi I saw crying on Nairaland? hahhahahahahahaa

♥ Re: World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria,
Cameroon, Algeria In Group B by
      Badosqi( m): 7:06pm On Jun 24
How is this rubbish even possible.
Fifa and Caf are seriously crazy.
3 of the 5 teams that represented
Africa at the 2014 world cup are
wickedly packed in a group. How
      can you group Nigeria, Algeria
      and Cameroon together? 3 teams
      from last world cup.♥
      hahahahaha

      • Because they were in different pots per Fifa rankings. With the exception of Algeria, the others are no longer good.only a few countries are able to maintain their PEDIGREE after the world cup. The best teams are placed in pot 1. That’s where you find Algeria, ivory coast, Ghana etc the rest like naija, wo couldn’t even qualify for Afcon are placed somewhere else.

  44. algeria stand the better chance..zambias best finish could be 4th place in the group with a goal…then hope for 2022 fifa WC..

  45. Niajaguy , Noni (Nija 1st Son) Ghana is the only power house in football just shut up if you don’t have anything to say just concentrate on defeating your fellow minions Chipo’s

  46. Wow. What a group for Zambia. If only Cameroon hadn’t bn francophone, this site will be swarmed even more by West Africans. Well, let me concentrate on my own group. Somebody link me to an English based Egyptian forum to do some trolling. I’m bored. Hehe

  47. One thing am 100% sure is that algeria can never beat nigeria in algiers. When you write off the nigerian team, they will mess you up big time. Its good that way there is no pressure on them. The best result zambia can get against nigeria is draw in lusaka. The only problem facing the nigerian team is the camerounian team.It wont be easy. And dont forget when it comes to world cup nigeria and cameroun plays their lives out.

  48. This is where you become very calm. Aim, observe the wind and shoot. Get me Chisamba Lungu and make him captain. You need some raw talent and strong characters in this situation. I enjoyed watching Fwayo today, I don’t know about the condition of Sate(your little sniper) alongside kangwa. National team places are not personal to order.

  49. well I like the calm attitude aiming n observing the wind, but if the wind is against u, no amount of calmness will help u k…

  50. A disaster has befallen Zambia again. When Will THESE Boys Ever Be TO THE world cup? Couldn’t even qualify for AfcoN where they might win another fluke one. Can’t even beat Guinea Bissau, how would they do if they meet Germany like Ghana did in 2014? It is better they stay at home & watch the good teams from Africa. The chipolopolos need about 12 years to prepare. 2030 must be their target. Start With Youth PROGRAMS Immediately. In the interim, try to win a few fluke afcons so that your FIFA rankings would improve. Free advice. No consultation fees either.

  51. Please, can somebody tell me if football is played in Nigeria? As for Zambia, my heart bleeds for you in this group, however, never lose hope you could spring some surprises . I just wish if FIFA can swap Egypt for Nigeria so that we could for Russia even before a ball is kicked

  52. Both Ghana and Ivory Coast beat Algeria the last Afcon. So who made Algeria the best team in Africa? When was the last time Algeria reached semi final of an afcon tourney. As for Nigeria a team that cannot even qualify for two afcon tourneys, the least said about them the better.

  53. Poor player selection and Nchekelamo is what will shut Zambia’s hopes of qualifying to the world cup. The fisrt step Zambia needs to do urgently is to find a better coach than Lwandamina. The second step is to take the Arm band back to Chris Katongo. The Guy has leadership qualities.
The following are the players who can qualify to the world cup

    Goal Keepers
    1 Kennedy Mweene (Vice Captain)
    2 Danny Munyau
    3 Jacob Banda

    Defenders
    1 Stopilla Sunzu
    2 Davies Nkausu
    3 Aaron Katebe
    4 Kondwani Mtonga
    5 Buchizya Mfune
    6 Joseph Musonda
    7 Emmanuel Mbola

    Midfielders
    1 Christopher Katongo (Captain)
    2 Isaac Chansa
    3 Chisamba Lungu
    4 Rainford Kalaba
    5 Lubambo Musonda
    6 Nathan Sinkala
    7 Cletus Chama

    Strikers
    1 Collins Mbesuma
    2 Jacob Mulenga
    3 Winstone Kalenga
    4 Evans Kangwa
    5 Emmanuel Mayuka
    6 Luchanga Conlyde

    Stating Line-up
    1 Kennedy Mweene
    2 Davies Nkausu
    3 Joseph Musonda/ Emmanuel Mbola
    4 Aaron Ketebe/ Kondwani Mtonga
    5 Stopilla Sunzu
    6 Nathan Sinkala
    7 Chisamba Lungu
    8 Isaac Chansa
    9 Collins Mbesuma
    10 Christopher Katongo
    11 Rainford Kalaba
    5

    • Good. We may need additional 4 or 5 players to the 23 suggested so that we prune it down to 23 in the end taking coqnizance of injuries and non-performance of some of the players suggested. There should also be a back up of 5 players in case of any further mishaps. Good selection though.
