Our writer’s Zambia probable XI versus Algeria
As Zambia lock horns with Algeria tonight, in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, away in Constantine, ZamFoot writers have predicted their probable starting line ups.
For starters, here is Bernard Chama’s probable XI:
Zambia XI: Mweene – Simon Silwimba, Ziyo Tembo, Stopilla Sunzu, Fackson Kapumbu – Kondwani Mtonga, Enock Mwepu, Chisamba Lungu – Augustine Mulenga, Brian Mwila, Ernest Mbewe.
Chama expounds his reasoning below:
“I have gone for a midfield three with Kondwani Mtonga at base of the triangle.
“Chisamba should be the disciplined and control the tempo of the game with Mwepu the given the licence to surge forward. Basically a free role for the teenager.
“Ideally, I would prefer Emmanuel Banda starting ahead of Chisamba in central midfield because of that goal threat from the Belgium based but away in North Africa, we ‘ll need a bit experience.
“The other option is to start both with Chisamba going wide but again two rookies in the middle of the pack. But my gut feeling not to risk
“The front three could have been different if Fashion Sakala was available.
“Zanaco’s Ernest Mbewe gets the nod. He is the most underrated player in Zambian Super League.
“It’s about starting a specialist in a position and Patson Daka is not winger. He can do a job there but it’s an away game in a hostile environment.
“If he is fit, then Brian Mwila just to start. He was gutted not to against Mozambique after he picked up a knock on the eve of the match.
“Augustine Mulenga picks himself.
“After the hour mark, having Patson and Emmanuel Banda off the bench shows the depth in the team.”
Next, is our Match Reports Anchor Kondwani Gondwe’s probable XI against Algeria tonight.
XI: Mweene, Silwimba, Kapumbu, Tembo, Sunzu, Mtonga, Lungu, Mwepu, Mbewe, Mulenga, Daka
Gondwe gives an insightful explanation behind the above probable line up.
“4-3-3 to have a fluid and extremely pacy front line.
“It makes a lot of sense to keep a functioning back line. So same as in Lusaka.
“Midfield trio. Mtonga at base. Lungu to transition and to dribble us out of traffic in the center. Also to be the experience around Mwepu.
“Mwepu to be the third element of midfield with more of an attacking role than Chisamba but being an away game must contribute defensively.
“The front 3 of Daka, Mbewe and Mulenga to have a perfect balance with Mulenga who is more craft than pace, Mbewe with more pace and graft and Daka with Pace and finishing.”
Chimuka Hampango is our Chief in Editor and below are his thoughts in regards to who should be in control of the flanks.
“I would still like to see Augustine Mulenga and Enerst Mbewe play on either flank in this game.
“I just think we have to be compact in this game but play with a lot of pace on the flanks to undo them. And Ernest Mbewe puts in a good shift in helping to defend.
“I won’t be surprised to see Augustine Mulenga, Patson Daka and Ernest Mbewe paying across the front with Mwepu in midfield joining like he did for U20.”
Franklin Malambo is our Chief pundit and he is in affirmative with Chimuka Hampango.
“I thought that was the way we should have started on Saturday… with pure wingers.
They surely add fuel going forward and nullify wing back attacking threats.”
