Wk15 Super League Round-up: Laudit nets Hat-trick, Zesco go top
The Zambian Super League Week 15 fixtures produced some sweet results for the enjoyment of the soccer fans. Stream A was goals galore with a perfect away win for the unbeaten Kabwe Warriors at the Sunset Stadium against Zanaco Football Club while Zesco United soared to the top of the log.
Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 2-1 Nakambala Leopards (Chabala | Junior Zulu)
It was a good result for the Shinde outfit as they beat Nakambala Leopards by 2-1 to go to twelve points and leapfrog both Prison Leopards and Kitwe United who suffered defeat to Red Arrows and Zesco United respectively.
Mighty survival mode may just have been activated by this important win which halted a five game losing streak.
Prison Leopards 1-2 Zesco United (Liya Landu 74′ |Jackson Were 49′, Anthony Akumu)
The match in Kabwe was certainly headed for a draw after Prison Leopards had cancelled Jackson Were’s strike through Liya Landu but it was the Kenyan midfielder Anthony Akumu who had the final say in this tie.
Zesco United will appreciate the result that was recorded in Lusaka between Zanaco and Kabwe Warriors as they go top of the log ahead of Red Arrows on goal difference. Arrows beat Kitwe United by one goal to nil in the early kickoff in a double-header.
Green Eagles 1 -1 Nkana (Tapson Kaseba 73’| Simon Bwalya 90′)
Barely one week since the two side met in Kitwe in that infamous humbling of the legendary side via a 1-4 scoreline. The return fixture was one of the most anticipated this weekend, and the hosts hit first through their talisman Tapson Kaseba who now has found the back of the net six times in this transition season.
Nkana left it late and struck through Simon Bwalya in the dying minutes of the match to earn the Kitwe side a point away in Choma.
Power Dynamos 1-1 Lumwana Radiants (Benson Sakala | J.Phiri)
Coming from an away win, Power Dynamos started this encounter with a strike from Benson Sakala who has been handed a Chipolopolo call up ahead of the COSAFA Senior Challenge tournament. Lumwana need the services of J. Phiri to rescue a point and keep their chances of escaping relegation bright.
Power Dynamos now move to Twenty-one points.
Buildcon 0-0 Nkwazi
A match that pitted two sides chasing a continental slot didn’t produce the goals. The talking point for the match would be the sending off of Lameck Banda who accumulated two yellow cards. This means the two positions for this weekend will remain unshaken with Buildcon now having twenty-three points while Nkwazi get to twenty-six points as they remain second.
Zanaco 0-2 Kabwe Warriors (A.Mwachiaba 46′, J.Ndhlovu 50′)
The unbeaten run continues for the Kabwe side. Warriors put two past the bankers, Zanaco Football Club, this afternoon at Sunset stadium. Akakubekwa Mwachiaba opened the scores for Warriors immediately after the halftime break and four minutes later former Power Dynamos striker Jimmy Ndhlovu got his art done perfectly to round up the match.
The loss was the second for Zanaco in a row after that 4-2 lost to Nakambala, with the defense allowing six goals in the last two matches and its sees the relinquish top spot to drop to third.
MUZA 0-0 Circuit City
Both teams failed to find the back of the net and are certainly sinking deep in the relegation dog fight.
Forest Ranger 2-3 Napsa Stars (Z. Adams 32′,A.Muwowo 83′ p|L. Mavugo 4′ 61′ (p) 88′ (p) )
Despite the strikes from the impressive duo of Zikiru Adams and Austin Muwowo, Forest Rangers’ continental aspirations were derailed by a Laudit Mavugo hattrick that saw Napsa Stars pick three maximum points in Ndola.
This is a big boost for coach Muhammad Fathi’s push for a top two finish considering the fact that all the teams above them failed to collect maximum points.
It’s worth noting that a total of three penalties were awarded in this match, the highest number of penalties given in the Transition League in a single match so far
Red Arrows 1-0 Kitwe United (P.Katema 30′)
Kitwe United’s Super League survival credentials were put to a test by Red Arrows through a Paul Katema 30′ minute goal.
Probably not the best of times to face the in form Airmen who are having their best form and went on to seal the lead to move to 27 points on the log
