We’re not scared of Nkana – Jani Tarek
Nkana had their worst nightmare the last time they played against a side from Ivory Coast when they were beaten to a pulp, 3-0 by Sewe Sport in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
The Kitwe giants have a chance to unravel the stranglehold when they go to a tussle with another side from Ivory Coast – a novice – San Pedro tomorrow at Nkana Stadium.
But San Pedro, albeit being novices in continental football have zero fears, taking on the 1990 CAF Champions league finalists. They have been issuing threats since their arrival in Zambia.
San Pedro are proven giant killers, having brushed aside Motema Pembe of Democratic Republic of Congo 3-1 on aggregate in the 1st round of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup.
In their books, the Ivorian football club have Ousmane Ouatara, their captain; who was part of the Sewe Sport set-up that destroyed Nkana in 2014.
Head coach Jani Terek said in a pre match interview today that they are not scared of Nkana and that he was banking on his players experience and their winning formula in their previous encounter against Motema Pembe.
“We are not afraid or scared, because we have good players. We have our captain, he played against Nkana with Sewe Sport. So we have players with the experience. We are not scared,” he said.
“We played Motemba Pembe, It was not easy. We will use tactics, the same tactics we used against Motema Pembe.”
And the captain Ousmane Ouatara acknowledged that Nkana is a good side but said they came to Zambia to win.
