We’ll play as if we’re not leading – Chiyangi
COACH Aggrey Chiyangi has said that Green Eagles will not let their 2-0 lead against Young Buffaloes from the 1st leg of the 2018-19 Total CAF Confederation Cup first round cause complacency ahead of the return leg in eSwatini.
The Choma based side and Zambia’s other envoys in this season’s second tier of continental football – struck twice at home last Tuesday, heading into the 2nd leg with an edge.
Coach Chiyangi said in the pre-match interview in Manzini that he was aware that teams can easily produce incredible comebacks, adding that they were going to play as if they were not sitting on a 2-0 lead advantage.
And Chiyangi said Eagles were going to make sure that they score an early goal, to send chills down the spine for their opponents.
“I think for now, we don’t want to talk about the 2-0. This is a new game and we are going to play as if we don’t have that 2-0,” he said.
“Because in football 2-0 is nothing, we have seen teams come back from 4-0 win, they lose. So we are not going to count the 2-0 for now.
“This is going to be a fresh game and we want to win. So we just have to play very positively and also look to score an early goal.”
Meanwhile Green Eagles Captain Ceasor Hakaluba has said that they were not going to underrate their Tuesday opponents.
“I know the game will be tough but we are tactically prepared for the 2nd leg. We are not going to underrate them because that we beat them at home.”
Asked about the target Eagles have set, Hakaluba said: “We have set the target to reach the group stages.”
