Players Abroad: Saith and Lineker on target

Zambian players abroad were in action over the weekend and as usual mixed results were recorded.

Former Sensational Zanaco forward Saith Sakala and Former Costa do Sol striker Lineker Mwikisa were both on target for their respective teams.


In South Africa, Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga are expected to be in action on Wednesday when Orlando Pirates face Cape town city in the Nedbank cup.

Rodrick Kabwe is expected to be in action on tuesday as his Ajax Cape town take on Amazulu in a PSL encounter.

Salulani Phiri will be in action on Friday as his Polokwane City face Maritzburg United. In midweek in chipped with an assist when they beat Blomfotein Celtic by two goals to nil.

Striker Lewis Macha was left out of the Baroka FC match day squad that beat Steenberg United two nil on saturday in a Nedbank cup encounter.


In Mozambique, Lineker Mwiikisa was on target for Ferroviario da Beira opening the scores as they beat Ferroviario de Nacala three nil. Midfielder Thomas Nyirenda also featured for Beira.


In Morocco, Midfielder Donashano Malama suffered a two nil defeat together with his Olympique Club de Khouribga team mates at the hands of Olympique de Safi.


In Austria, Former Napsa Stars and Kafue Celtic midfield ace Enock Mwepu put in a 90 minute shift for the Redbull Salzburg feeder club FC Liefering in their two nil win over Hartberg.

Striker Patson Daka Daka suffered an injury just 37 minutes into the match forcing a first half substitution and Austrian 18 year old attacker Nicolas Meister replaced the 2017 CAF young player of the year.


In Armenia, Winger Lubambo Musonda was left out of the Gandzaar Kapan match day squad that suffered a loss away at Shirak.


In Belgium, Midfielder Emmanuel Banda was an unused substitute in KV Oostende’s three goals to two loss at home to Standard Liège.


In Israel, Defender Emmanuel Mbola put in a full ninety minute shift for Hapoel Ranaana who suffered a two nil home defeat at the hands of Beitar Jerusalem.

Striker Emmanuel Mayuka came off the bench to play the last twelve minutes.


In Russia, Defender Stophila Sunzu put in a full ninety minute shift for Arsenal Tula who beat Amkar Perm by two goals to nil. Former Nkana talisman Evans Kangwa played the first 87 minutes.

In the FONBET league, Striker Fashion Sakala played the first half of Spartak Moskva II who suffered a one nil loss against Rotor Volgograd.


In Saudi Arabia, Former Zanaco attacker Saith Sakala came on in the 64th minute to replace Ali Al Zaqan and netted eight minutes later as Al Fateh sunk Al Faisaly by two goals to nil.


In Sweden, Striker Edward Chilufya will be in action tomorrow with his Djurgadens IF side who take on BK Häcken in a Svenska Cupen Quarter-final match.


In Portugal, Winger Kenneth Kalunga was in action for Sporting de Esmoriz in their nil nil draw with Canedo in the fifth tier.

Former Sensational Zanaco Striker Moses Phiri was an unused substitute for his Sporting Covilhã side that for a two two draw with Arouca.

    I wonder what’s happening to Lewis Macha, he started off on a good note when he joined and now seems to be struggling to get any game time at Baroka.

    Mixed results indeed. I like the consistency of Mbola. He deserves a national team call up. Somebody tell me, I thought it was reported that Lineker had signed for a Portuguese team? Am I wrong?

    Indeed Emmanuel Mbola, it is always the same story, ” he put in a full 90minutes shift” He deserves a place in Chipolopolo “A” team.
