Sakala was in the second half of the clash shone a second yellow card, hence sent for an early shower. The first yellow, was for arguing with match officials and the latter for a reckless challenge.

Nyirenda, who was on cloud nine after breaking Zambia’s jinx against Algeria since 1982, did not slam the match officials as expected.

“The boy did what he was supposed to do. It was unfortunate that he was sent off. I am not disappointed, we have to encourage him because this was his first game,” Nyirenda told th ZamFoot Crew after the game.

Sakala who plays for Russian side Spartak Moscow was given marching orders in the 55th minute of the game for a second bookable offence.

  1. Don says:

You end up on the receiving end if you have a confrontation with a Headmaster, teacher or in this case a referee. They say experience is the best teacher n Fashion had to learn the hard way.

  2. Sibs says:

The Coach was supposed to withdraw the boy at half time knowing he had a yellow card. He was supposed to protect him. If Algeria had come back and equalised after the red card the coach would have taken the fall.

Our defence still looks shaky, especially Central defence. Sunzu almost cost us with that handball during a corner. The Ref never saw it or chose to ignore his eyes. It was a clear penalty as that was a deliberate hand ball by Sunzu.
Going forward we were always dnagerous but back line needs a lot of work and Central midfield i miss Nathan Sinkala especially an away game like the one on Tuesday in Algeria.

  3. Limo says:

Well spoken Mr. Nyirenda, the boy encouragement.

  4. Muchinga says:

Well done boys and coach Wada Wada. Please let F. Kapumbu be rested tomorrow he is a liability in defence. If the Coach did not see it, let him hear from us soccer fans.

Emmanuel Banda should start for the red carded Fashion Sakala. Banda is equally good.
