Lwandamina: We needed a win to boost our confidence
Zesco United head Coach George Lwandamina was pleased with his side’s 2-1 win in the final match of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage against Asante Kotoko of Ghana.
Lwandamina shared his general overview with the Zamfoot crew regarding the game and the way forward for the Zambia Super League defending Champions.
“It was a well contested game we needed to protect our integrity and pride but its unfortunately both teams are out, for us it was about boosting Confidence for ourselves,” he said.
” I know Nkana they are our Zambian brothers and they are lucky to find themselves in this situation,” he added.
Lwandamina urged Nkana to capitalise on their good home record going into the quarter finals.
” Nkana have to work on their away form and am sure they stand a better chance because the home record is good so if they maintain it well at home and score more goals at home, we want to see them qualify to the semifinals or even get the Cup then it will be good for Zambia,” said.
Nkana qualified to the quarter finals despite a heavy defeat away in Sudan while Zesco bowed on a winning note ending a seven match winless streak.
The Wusakile based side will face RS Berkane, CS Sfaxien or Zamalek SC in the Quarter finals.
