The Football Association of Zambia, FAZ has accorded Chipolopolo Boys coach Wedson Nyirenda his wish of camping the team in Western Province.
Assistant coach Aggrey Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew after Saturday morning’s training session at National Heroes Stadium that the team will head to Mongu next week.
“We will be in Mongu for 5-7 days,” the 1994 African Cup of Nations silver medallists said after the team broke camp for Christmas break.
It’s a major u-turn from FAZ after they had indicated that the Mongu camp was off.
The initial stance didn’t go well with Nyirenda as he bemoaned the association’s lack of backing towards his schedule.
Mongu has been a traditional pre-season training base for Wada Wada. He took his Zesco United and Zanaco sides during his time as head coach.
After the team’s stay in Barotseland, they are expected to fly to North Africa.
The CHAN tournament will start on January 12, 2018.
Zambia is in Group B alongside Namibia, Uganda and Ivory coast.
This will be the third appearance for the Copper Bullets.
In 2009, Zambia won a bronze, while in 2016 under the tutelage eye of George Lwandamina, they bowed out in the quarter finals.
FAZ well done, but please let’s avoid get pressure for fans and that’s when U-turn. We are entering the new year, lets avoid this please.
Well done. This is the support wada needs.in future no need for wada cry foul when the results don’t come.he will have no excuse.
Grant him everything he wants according to FAZ statutes CO’s we don’t want flimsy excuses from Morocco.
