UK based teens jet in for Rwanda qualifier

The England based duo summoned to the Under-20 camp for the Niger 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier has arrived in the country ahead of this weekend’s tie against Rwanda.

Wigan Athletic U-18 starlet Mwiya Malumo and Shrewsbury Town winger Lifumpa Mwandwe arrived at 14:40 hours aboard Emirates Airlines and were received at the airport by FAZ officials.

The duo will be expected to process their paper work before proceeding to Kigali to join the team that is currently in Lilongwe, Malawi.
“This call means a lot to me, representing one’s country is the best thing one can do,” said Mwandwe.
“I did not expect the call but I am excited that I got this chance.”

And Malumo said that he was hoping to make good on his form at his club where he scored 25 goals in the 2017/18 season.

The technical bench summoned the two lads for national duty based on their performances in the United Kingdom.

25 goals?!! Okay, this is good. I like the pool of players for World Cyp 2022 is getting larger.

@positive thinking….. indeed…that’s what i am looking for as well. Its a good development.

  2. Lukanga Kafusha Justice says:

25 goals at that age amazing. To other players give each other support for you never know the 2 might open the gates for Zambian players to the UK

  3. Well well well hope we build up a team which is going to play like the afcon u20 champs.

  4. discipline says:

That’s what am talking about, let’s hope wada won’t bench the lads especially the 25 goal machine.

  5. discipline says:

Please folks help me if am wrong, just checking on this kid lifumpa on wikipedia and no where on his personal stat is showing that he scored that number of goals and for sure if he did I can tell you a number of very top English sides would be fighting for his signature

  6. Gilbert says:

But now on the coaching bench how confident is Faz on Mumba? From the coach stint on continental level Mumba has not performed well. So again this time, it must be watched again.

Why not employing Beston Chambeshi who led the Under 20s to win the youth tournament and reached last 8.

It was better to assign Mumba as an understudy coach.

  7. Sibs says:

This team seems to be beaming with talent. My only concern is the Coach. He has showed that he can’t “Tika” at International level. Zanaco with all the talent failing to beat a team from Swaziland and the U20 1st Round Cosafa exit. Can’t remember the U20 exiting in the 1st Round of COSAFA. He made wrong history.

ZANACO year after year fail to progress to the group stage of Continental Club soccer.
