Sunzu, Dude beef up U20 squad as Chambeshi calls 30 to camp
Zambia Under twenty national team coach Beston Chambeshi has called 30 players to camp as the team starts preparations for the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup to be staged in South Korea.
Chambeshi has made additions to his squad bringing Israel based midfielder Ngosa Sunzu and Patrick ‘Dude’ Ngoma among the notable additions.
Despite having the best defensive record during the Africa Cup tournament which Zambia won, there have been cries to bolster the defense.
Chambeshi seems to have obliged as Sunzu the young brother to Arsenal Tula defender seems to have been brought in to be assessed for a position in defense.
The lanky lad was part of the Zambia U17 national team that played at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Dude on the other hand played at the 2015 U20 Africa Cup tournament and was also part of the senior national team that played at 2015 Africa Cup of Nations but his progress stalled after he made a move to Alexandria of Egypt and was a surprise omission when he was dropped for the Cosafa U20 tournament due to poor form.
USA based midfielder Peter Mashikini has also received a call up as positions in the final team look to be up for grabs.
The team excludes some foreign based players Patson Daka, Fashion Sakala, Mwape Mumba.
Enock Mwepu who is on trials in Austria is also missing from the team.
Zanaco new signing Damiano Kola has also received a call to the provisional squad.
Team manager Daniel Jere who released the names to Fazfootball.com said the team will be trimmed to 21 just before the tournament.
“The team will be reporting to camp on 12th April, 2017 for camping at Cool Breeze Lodge at 18:00 hours for local camping until the team leaves on 23rd April enroute to Korea for the World Cup” Jere said.
