South African side Sundowns are believed to be favourites to sign Justin Shonga, the ZamFoot Crew can exclusively reveal.

According to the ZamFoot Crew sources in Pretoria, the CAF Champions League holders are have showed keen interest in signing the Nkwazi forward.

“Sundowns have already made an offer to Nkwazi. It looks like a done deal as both parties have agreed.

“What is remaining is just the player’s personal terms,” the source said.

Shonga together with his striker partner Brian Mwila have been in devastating form and given the Chipolopolo faithful something to smile about.

The boy from Kum’awa has notched four goals in the last 6 international games while the 23 year old Mwila has  5.

There was also interesta for duo from Baroka.

Chipolopolo Boys first choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is on the books of the Chloorkop based side while Hichani Himoonde and Felix Katongo had unsuccessful spell.

  1. There are too many players at Sundowns. He’ll have to fight for first team place which has its own challenges. Personally, I would thoroughly analyze the pro s and cons before putting pen to paper.

  2. The only reason Downs want him is because in S.A and during the COSAFA games he was in most cases described to be a player in the mould of Billiat. Replacement or reserve is their minds. However, Billiat started at Ajax.

  3. I agree with @Yebo! too many good players at Mamelody Sundowns! Better he goes to ZANACO or to Power Dynamos! Our home league is far much better than PSL!!!

    • Plus the Coach Pitso favours Locals, He said it when He was Bafana Bafana Coach, unless a players is brilliantly exceptional.

  4. @ Evans that’s a good once!!!! Once a player is finished because of lack of game time it takes a lot of efforts to be impressive; Another good example Emmanuel Mayuka! Sometimes they never pick up their best forms!

  5. Tricky one. At the moment i would rather a Zambian player joins a mid table South African team (bloem celtic, ajax, free state, baroka etc) than go straight to a Sundowns, Chiefs or Pirates. in these teams due to supporter pressure if your first few matches is bad then thats the end of your career at the club. Zambian players are struggling at the top teams in the PSL nowadays and need time to adapt. If pitso is patient though then he has a chance of making it.

    • very well said. The best for this boy would be to go to Baroka and use that as a spring board to the bigger teams after he has acclimatized to the PSL. Joining a team this big with players of the quality of Billiat is a very tasking ask.

  6. There will be limited game time opportunities for him at Sundowns. Its better for him to go to a team where he will likely be a starter. Only Gift Kamapamba had been successful at Sundowns. The boy is still young and needs to be playing regularly.

    • True. On a scale the chances of him not getting game time are far more heavier than the chances of him getting game time. He should have gone to Baroka before considering any of the 4 big teams.

  7. I agree with everyone Shonga should first go to a Mid Table team than Sundowns. They are other local players at his level who not playing at Sundowns and week in/out the sit on the bench and in the stands. This will be a career CRIPPLING move if he signed for Sundowns.

Looking at the postings above its like 99% of us agree he should not rush to Sundowns. I hope someone at Nkwazi or his handlers do have a look at ZAMFOOT.
I remember when Mukuka Mulenga was about to sign for The Brazillians we warned him not to. Look at what has happened to the young talent. SAD!!

  8. Wrong guys about Mulenga! He came to Sundowns with a serious injury from his national team that took the entire season to heal. Pitso once said “If you praise Billiat, wait until you see Mukuka Mulenga in action”

After rehabilitation he was loaned to Bloemfontein Celtic which is a mid table team to kickoff his PSL career without pressure. After the injury he was never the same. He did not succeed at Celtic. He never played for Sundowns!
Look at the Ivorian, Yannick Zakri. He score 5 goals in 26 appearances. The goals he scored was in his 4 of 5 games of the season. The team was patient with him because only luck was not in his side . “Magnificent” Gift Kampamba was brilliant! He succeeded because he was exceptional.

  9. I think shonga needs Zambian and competitive clubs such as Zanaco or zesco united before making such move rushing to sondowns will be the end of his career unless luck on his side
