Zambian clubs could have missed out on the finals of the CAF Champions League but the Zambian flag was again carried high by top referee Janny Sikazwe who picked another medal for officiating in the final between crowned champobs Wydad Casablanca and Al Ahly.
Sikazwe missed out on the honour of being the centre referee as he was pipped by Gambian centre man Bakary Gassama but still kept his place in the final as the fourth official.
38 year old Gassama had a good game as he added to a successful year that saw him officiate at the Confederations Cup.
Sikazwe has also had a busy year that has seen him officiate about 17 matches this year so far including the top honour of officiating the final of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The 38 year old also made an appearance at the 2017 U20 World Cup after ending 2016 with a club World Cup finals medal.
Wydad Casablanca were crowned CAF Champions League champions when they beat Al Ahly 1 – 0 in Casablanca to win 2 – 1 on aggregate.
Congrats tata!
