LIVINGSTONE — Zambia Women national team Captain Misozi Zulu has said that there was confidence oozing in camp ahead of their 2018 Cosafa Women Championship opener against Lesotho on Thursday in South Africa.
And star player Barbara Banda has revealed that the morale in camp is high and that everyone’s focus is on winning all the assignments – beginning with tomorrow’s.
Zambia were drawn in Group B, paired with Lesotho, Mozambique and favourites Cameroon – who are featuring at the carnival football festival alongside Uganda as guests.
The Shepolopolo captain said that they were not scared of the previous edition’s hosts of the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) Cameroon. The exact sentiment were uttered by star player Barbara Banda.
Both Zambia and Cameroon have qualified to the 2018 AWCON.
The duo was speaking to FAZ Media Officer Sydney Mugala in Port Elizabeth, in a separate interview today.
“We are very much ready for the game and our aim is to win. We are all confident, no one is afraid,” the captain said.
“We have no fear of facing Cameroon and we have confidence we can beat them. As a team we have adopted a winning mentality.”
Meanwhile, both ladies have implored fans back home to believe in the team – that they can succeed and have promised that they will not disappoint.
