Shepolopolo lose to Banyana Banyana

Zambia senior women’s national football team gave away a 3-0 second half lead to lose to South Africa on post match penalties in their 2017 COSAFA Women’s Championships semi final played in Bulawayo on Thursday.

First half goals from Barbara Banda and Grace Chanda gave the Shepolopolo a 2-0 lead at the break, with Misozi Zulu increasing the advantage seventeen minutes from time.

But two quick fire goals from L. Smeda scored in the 77th and 78th minutes gave Banyana Banyana hope and their come back was completed in the 84th minute through R. Jane, forcing the tie to be decided on post match penalties.

While Misozi Zulu, Grace Zulu and Lweendo Chisamu converted their penalties, it was Esther Mukwasa who missed her spot kick for Zambia.

South Africa converted all their penalties through L. Smeda, B. Mane, N. Matlou, N. Nyandeni and L. Ramalepe to win 5-3.

South Africa will face Zimbabwe in the final, while Zambia and Kenya will square off in the third and fourth play-off.

please ba Kamanga(FAZ PRESIDENT)can you start fulfilling your blue print promises before your election, among them having an established and well structured soccer league for the women. we no doubt have massive talent in this country which is going to waste because of lack of focus on the part of our football administrators. Let us have a good football league for our girls and women.

Tough luck to the girls. Though i see you have improved in the last few years. RSA used to walk over you but now you can compete with them. They have invested in women soccer by miles compared to us.
