FAZ verdict: Shamujompa is a Nchanga Rangers player

The debacle surrounding Zambia National team defender Isaac Shamujompa has finally come to an end as the Players status and transfer committee have made their verdict .

According the ruling by the Steven Lungu led committee Shamujompa is a Nchanga Rangers player.

Shamujompa joined Power Dynamos football club from Intersport recently but the transfer has been declared null and Void as Intersport where in no position to negotiate such a deal.

THE CASE

Nchanga Rangers, Power Dynamos, Intersport, Kalulushi Modern stars and Buildcon FC were all claiming ownership of Isaac Shamujompa. Intersport by virtue of being the academy that groomed him and had a verbal agreement with the mother to pay his school fees while he played football for them.

Shamujompa joined Intersport in 2011 and had no contract with the club. He was sent on a two year long loan to Kalulushi Modern stars on a fee of K7500. Intersport was playing in amateur league by then hence the issue of the transfer was a breach of the FAZ regulations as they were only entitled to training fee into the player reaches 23.

In the case of non- payment of loan fees by Kalulushi Modern stars their is no documentation hence the Committe could not proceed any further.

When at Kalulushi Modern stars he was sent on loan to Nchanga Rangers on a K40 000 loan fee but Nchanga say it was an outright purchase on a K35 000 fee payable in two instalments K20 000 and K 15 000. They claim to have paid the first instalment upon which a transfer certificate was issued but the player was not cleared in the online system.

Intersport approached them about the player befire they couod pay the last instalment to Kalulushi Modern stars and then Nchanga agreed a K35 000 loan deal with Intersport for the 2016 season.

At the start of 2017 Intersport and Nchanga Rangers officials agreed a K70 000 outright purchase deal payable in two instalments K20 000 and K50 000. Nchanga paid them the first instalment using a named person account at a named bank and agreed to pay the remaining fee by 30th June 2017.

ON 27th June Intersport wrote to Nchanga Rangers withdrawing the player for non-payment of the transfer fee. The next day Rangers wired the remaining amount to the same account for which their contract with Shamujompa came into full effect .

The issue of Nchanga Rangers and Kalulushi Modern stars is unenforceable according to the committee. As for Power Dynamos contract with Intersport, it has been declared null and Void as Intersport had no capacity to make any such negotiations starting 28th June 2017.

Their is also the issue of Buildcon FC, apparently the player was not approached by either party hence there was a violation of FAZ regulations. A player can not be transferred without being prior notice or consent.

THE RULING

” For avoidance of doubt the player belongs to Nchanga Rangers,” The ruling read.

SANCTIONS

The committee has recommended a season long ban on registration of new players by Kalulushi Modern stars because they registered Isaac Shamujompa as their player when in actual sense he was an Intersport player and also entered into negotiations with Nchanga without the knowledge of his parent Club.

The committee also recommended disciplinary sanctions against Nchanga Rangers officials involved in the transfer . The officials changed the name of the player from ‘Isaac’ to ‘Issac’ to register him in the online system and dodge their financial obligations to Kalulushi Modern stars and in the process committed fraud against FAZ.

However no sanctions have been recommended for their actions towards Kalulushi Modern stars as the latter was
acting illegally.

  1. Zambia needs friendly games against west africans on thier soil to learn how to beat them on thier soil because Zambia has never done this and will be crucial if you want to go world cup mext time.

  2. The whole system seems quite silly. So you cannot sign a player from a youth system until age 23??? That sounds like it needs to be reviewed.

The registration system also needs to be overhauled. Also FAZ need to engage a legal team with whom transfers are coordinated. The electronic data base seems to be a good step going forward. Clubs should also be required to have a legal team that deals with transfers. This will eliminate the craziness that goes on in Zambian leagues.

Either that or the data base needs to be updated so that all pertinent documentation i.e. transfer fees, transfer certificates…etc are added as part of the electronic registration documentation. This also needs to be time stamped so that the committee can have access to this paperwork.

Another thing that needs to happen. Educate the players so that they understand the transfer system. Have a help line that they can contact for consultation or engage on a knowledge sharing tour of the clubs. This nonsense has got to stop.
