Rohr Hints At New Formation For Zambia Tie – Our Tactics Will Surprise Zambia

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will not play same formation and style that helped them pick a win and a draw against Cameroon in their last World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Zambia, according to coach Gernot Rohr.

Rohr made this known during the pre-match conference of the team ahead of Saturday’s clash against Zambia in ‎Uyo. A game which a win will see them progress to the World Cup in Russia.

Victory will see Nigeria gain an unassailable 13 points, which will be good enough for them to progress to the World Cup as group winners with a game to spare‎.

The 4-0 win and 1-1 draw against Cameroon helped the Eagles to confirm their leadership of the group, but Rohr says they will change the formation that helped them in the games against Cameroon for obvious reasons.

” We know our style that helped us against Cameroon, and we would love to play the same style again, but we know it will be more difficult to do it against Zambia “, Rohr said.

” They ( Zambia) already know us and our style from the game against Cameroon. So we have to have a good preparation and also change tactics, also to be more dangerous and to be able to surprise them “, he concluded.

  1. Kulibe ivo.. Naise we will play another formation to resurprise you and change your surprise for us into a surprise for you..Then everybody will be surprised that we are going to Russia

  2. Why a new formation? Simple this coach is scared to his bones. He knows very well it wont be pla sailing for Nigeria hence mind games. We are coming uko and with the proper travelling arrangements

  3. Nigeria scared of Zambia?? What you see in that statement is HUMILITY. That’s where Wada and some loud-mouthed fans should learn. I still keep my fingers crossed. Nigeria is not a yesterday team. We should be careful.

  4. I can’t believe Zambians are falling for dis.. Nigeria super eagles coach want to handle ur team with special treatment and u are happy.. I can’t wait to watch this.. U think ur team is stronger than Cameroon right?? Our boys might end up walloopin ur boys 12 : 0 ur chickenopolopolo coach just got himself a big task… Hahahhah

    • We have not fallen for anything my friend.

This is the first time I have heard him discuss tactical changes before a game. It’s just mind games & the moment he makes those changes that’s the downfall of a super chicken..

Mind games! That’s what it’s called. Bloody mind games, from a nervous man.

Our coach has prepared well, tomorrow wina azalila…I know it’s not me/ any Zambian. If they flow then its because of joy.

    • We gonna make it brother for we have a team and it is no joke. Since when did Zambia win in North Africa. Tell me? We did it in Algeria

  5. You zambians (including your coach) have big mouths. You need to be professional in ur approach to games and nt winning matches with ur mouths before games. Have at d back of ur mind that Nigeria is not algeria. That u beat algeria does not mean you’ll do same to Nigeria. It’ll b a diff ball game tomorrow. Remember, pride goes before a fall.

  6. Talk is cheap, enough of talking let the best team show us on the playing field. Football is never played and won by the mouth and on paper but 11 men against 11 on the pitch putting the ball behind the net.

  7. Just listening to Odion Ighalo warning Zambia, that though this will not be easy Nigeria will definately beat Zambia & they will end up in Russia since he has never been to the senior world cup.

Let them suprise us if they dare! We are ready for you Ighalo & team. Fashion, Mwepu & Patson have only been to the U20 world cup. They also want to go to Russia. Remember this as you step on that pitch.

  8. I have a lot of respect for Nigeria. They have better players on paper and they are our Big brothers. But one thing i know the ball is round it can go anywhere it is moved to.

I smell a huge shock and upset in the making. Go ZAMBIA. In God we TRUST.

  9. U think nigeria is scared of zambia. What happened when we beat u last year where they afraid? Watch and see what 9ja will do to zambia tomorrow. Do u think u are better than cameroun?

  10. Talk is cheap. Zambia beating algeria home and away is not a yardstick to beat 9ja at home ask cameroun what happened to them. The zambia fans and coach should be wasting time boasting. Football is played on the pitch and not by mouth. Tomorrow u shall see a different 9ja team. We are waiting for u.

  11. it will be an interesting game. a buffet for the neutrals but goose bumps for the interested parties. hopefully, it wont be marred with poor officiating. the best team should carry the day.

  12. In 1991, Nigeria beat a boastful Burkina Faso team 7-1. Their coach then just like the present Zambian coach had boasted about what he would do to the Super Eagles.
Zambia will be decapitated tomorrow. A tactically defiencient Algeria made an ordinary Zambian team look good.
Also, before you start off about some of the Zambian players playing at the quarter finals of the last U20 World Cup. Nigeria has appeared at the finals twice.
    My scoreline for tomorrow
    Nigeria 7
    Zambia 0

  13. Zambia beat Algeria home and away isn’t even a reason to think they’ll beat Nigeria. Zambia is a good team no doubt but Nigeria isn’t going to miss the fleet of chances Algeria did. You keep calling names of your stars but forgetting that the Super Eagles isn’t just about names but about players who play and perform against quality oppositions in Europe top leagues week in, week out. I’m keeping my fingers crossed to see the miracle the Zambians would perform tomorrow.

  14. BIG NAMES,THEY HAVE MET GOALS BUT

    Ighalo:
    Inacho:
    Iwobi:
    Moses:
    Musa:

Our defence is worrying; but soccer being what it is we shall do it.

Names are nothing to go by.We are under dogs but we can bite where it matters the most because we are under pressure. We need goals & a win.

  15. The gulf in quality between both sides is very wide. NO Zambian player will make the Super Eagles squad. You rely on players in backwater European leagues or the likes of Fashion playing in the reserve teams. Four of the top goalscorers in the Belgian league, Onyekuru (Anderlecht), Dennis (FC Brugges), Olayinka (Zulte-Waregem) and Awoniyi (mouscron) cannot even make the SE squad. I bet if they were Zambians, they would be mainstays in your team. Others like Success (Watford), Joel Obi (Torino), Nura (Roma), Sadiq (Torino), Alhassan (Austria Wien), Osimhen (Wolfsburg), Kayode (Girona) etc are all on the outside trying to break into the squad. I hope this gives you an idea of what you are against.
