Put the team ahead of personal interest- Daka tells U20 National team
Zambia National team striker Patson Daka has advised the Zambia U20 National team to put the teams interest first in the coming COSAFA U20 Championships. Daka is however confident of the teams capabilities and believes they will make the nation proud.
” Well I would like to advise to be mentally and physically prepared in such a tournament of which am sure the technical team has already done. Every player should first put the teams glory ahead of personal glory and the rest will come in, They all have to be team players with unity and love, ” Daka told Zambianfootball.co.zm in an exclusive interview.
” It’s not going to be easy for them because everyone now wants to beat Zambia but that shouldn’t bring pressure on them but they should take it as motivation to put in even more hard work and not succumb to pressure. They should just enjoy the games. I’m very positive and confident that they will make the nation proud, it all starts small then it becomes big, the Bible says “though our beginning may be small but our later days shall be great” . They have our full support and wishing them success,” he added.
Daka was part of coach Beston Chambeshi’s COSAFA U20 Championships winning squad an experience the Liefering hit man says was an incredible motivating factor and morale booster.
” Participating in the cosafa tournament was a very good platform for me to gain more experience and confidence. Being crowned as Southern Africa champions was an incredible motivation and morale booster for the other assignment ahead which was the U20 afcon. We had set targets as a team and I can say we achieved 90% of them,” Daka said.
Zambia will begin their title defence on Wednesday, December 6th against Uganda at Arthur Davies stadium.
The group stage will be completed on December 12, followed by a rest day, with the semifinals to be staged at the Arthur Davies Stadium on December 14.
The third-place play-off and the final will move to the Levy Mwanawasa in Ndola on December 16.
