PSL Wednesday Wrap

Mamelodi Sundowns had to come from behind to beat Supersport United 3 – 1 with Kennedy Mweene in goal.

Supersport pressed Sundowns from the start and Mweene conceded in the 16th minute and he had to react quicker minutes later after a long range shot bounced rebounded off his hands for him to get away with a corner.

However, Sundowns took advantage of their numerical advantage to score three after Superport went down by a man in the 59th minute to move into 5th position.

Chrisropher Katongo also played 90 minutes for Bidvest Wits in their 3 – 0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Chipolopolo captain showed some good movement on and off the ball but his efforts did not yield any results in front of goal.

Collins Mbesuma was also in action but could not find the back of the net for his club Mpumalanga Black Aces in their 2 – 2 draw away at Chippa United. Mbesuma completed 90 minutes.

Clifford Mulenga was an unused substitute for Ajax Capetown in their 1 – 1 draw away at Moroka Swallows.

Mukuka Mulenga also watched from the bench as Bloemfontein Celtic went down 1 – 0 against Free State Stars. Davies Nkausu did not make the bench.

Not too good for our RSA contingent with the exception of Mweene.
I just hope that Mweene could be made captain a tournament like the AFCON 2015. But this appointment could come at a wrong time as it could demoralise the existing captains Sunzu and Sinkala. I also believe that we need reinforcements to the technical bench and squad plus serious friendlies prior to the tournament. I just wish Kalusha and Co. will do something about this.

Maybe a coach like George Lwandamina should be roped in to assist Janza and another goalkeeping coach. Seeing that Davies Phiri is leaving for Amazulu in South Africa. I don’t think Chintu has enough technical know-how to assist Janza.
In addition, the squad needs to be beefed up with performing players like Jacob Mulenga strengthen the striking force, and Kondwani Mtonga to strengthen the midfield. I believe that the Zambian midfield is very weak now. Nathan Sinkala is struggling alone in the midfield. The right back also needs to be sorted out where Donashano is struggling. As for Munthali at the back, it’s another challenge we have.
This afcon will be one of the toughest in history as most the teams have improved tremendously. Those teams like Congo, Gabon, CV, etc that used to be small teams are big teams now. So it won’t be easy for any team including Zambia.
If we are not careful, we could even find ourselves at the bottom of group B after the preliminary group matches. If you want to have a feel of Zambia vs DR Congo, how about a Nkana vs TP Mazembe, or Zesco vs TP Mazembe. Something like that. Just saying.

The Dutch man lobahm is a genius. You could see the way he was making notes against mozambique. Pathetic Renard never made notes. Is it a surprise that we thrashed all 3 teams when lobahm was appointed. Let him assist Janza. Pay lobahm a good salary he will do the job.

Our group is very tricky, we’ve been struggling against North Africans. Also, Cape Verde is a rising force, Dr. Congo has good players. Time will tell.

  13. Anita says:

Please INVITE Kondwani Mtonga to the Afcon team to reinforce our midfield. Our midfield is very weak! Sinkala is not the same player he was 2 years ago. These days he can’t even make the bench for his club. Consider Katongo C for guidance and stability.

  14. Nazo says:

Both Kondwani Mtonga and Isaac Chansa are needed for the stability of our midfield. In short, Chisamba lungu and Kalaba to be effective and well cover.

  15. Rainford kalaba says:

forget abt chansa a.k.a gatusso he’s nolonger da playeR he was lets encourage the young spencer sautU they share some similarities n he’s able to shoot n scorE than chansa, abt da chipolopolo beanch if we allow janza to take us to afcom 2015 i promise wAT happened to senegal in 2012 will happen to da copper bullets 1st round parking, personally i still think da team dat plied Ghana in da second half in kumasi was da best jst lubambo replacing fwayo,we can build on dat,THIS Z MY OPINION THX,LET MWEENE B MADE CAPTAIN IF CK ISNT COMING BACK.
