PRESIDENT LUNGU BOASTS OF U23 SQUAD’S TALENT
The Republican President Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu has hailed the heroic U23 squad after successfully qualifying to the finals of the Egypt 2019 Africa cup of Nations which will start in November.
Chambeshi’s boys narrowly won at home before they completed the job in Congo Brazzaville with a 3-all draw, the 5-4 win on aggregate means that Zambia will join Egypt and six other teams that will qualify. This has left the president with nothing but praise for the team.
“Let me congratulate our gallant boys, the Zambia Under-23 National Football team for qualifying to the Egypt 2019 Under 23 African Cup of Nations tournament after an aggregate win over Congo Brazzaville.” the president wrote.
He continued, “This team’s exceptional talent and teamwork has made the country proud.”
Dr Lungu was delighted with the performance of the boys and has instructed them to win the showpiece and not to be only participants.
“To the team, you have made one stride, you should now go to the finals and lift the continental trophy.”
The FAZ patron and number one Chipolopolo fan concluded his speech by assuring the team of maximum support going forward, “Be assured of my full support.”
