Praises for Ghampani Lungu in SuperSport win over Pirates
SuperSport United attacker Ghampani Jones Lungu has received praises from his camp for his brave display at right back in the MTN8 quarter final victory against Orlando Pirates.
It was an inspired performance by the 20 year old who was only making his full debut on the day after being in looped into the team after Grant Kekana failed a late fitness test.
SuperSport United skipper Dean Furman who was man of the match singled Lungu out saying describing his performance as absolutely outstanding.
“We put in a solid shift in defence and I have to give special mention to our right back young Jones who came in for us. He is a striker/winger but we had a problem at right back, He came in and he was absolutely outstanding,” Furman said.
Matsatsantsa coach Kaitano Tembo also spoke praises of the former National Assembly striker ahead of the game.
“He is a youngster with lots of potential and we brought him here from Power Dynamos in Zambia where he did very well in the league‚” said Tembo.
“He is a striker but we want to convert him into a winger and South Africans are going to see a lot of him because he is a quality player. He scores goals and we must just introduce him slowly in the PSL.”
SuperSport United beat Orlando Pirates 4 – 3 on penalties to advance to the semi-finals of the competition after the game ended 2 – 2.
Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga both featured for the Bucs with Mulenga scoring a goal, missing an extra time penalty and picking himself to score from the spot during the shoot-out.
