Power Dynamos coaches walk tight rope

Pressure is mounting on the technical bench at Arthur Davies Stadium following a poor start to the season by Power Dynamos.

Coach Tenant Chilumba is under fire after picking two losses in three game and the executive committee has stated that it is concerned with the results.

Club Chairman Gilbert Simakoloyi said the technical committee met but did not make any decision on the coaches.

“We have not fired anyone but the performance is worrying us because we have lost two games already. The technical bench knows what the club expects of them because this was discussed.  Contracts are performance-based so we are keeping a close tab on this,” he said.

Simakoloyi said the technical committee is today scheduled to meet the coaching bench to let them know that their performance was worrying as Power Dynamos cannot play second fiddle to teams like Zesco United.

Power have fixtures against Zanaco, Red Arrows and Lusaka Dynamos up ahead. Though they look favorites in two of these fixtures, any slip up could see Chilumba and his assistants, Anderson Phiri and Alex Namazaba, exit Arthur Davies Stadium.

Power Dynamos last season finished third in the league.

  1. What of the Executive doing aome self introspection. Since Chalimba Phiri was hounded out after winning the League with no courtesy to allow him to enjoy the fruits of his labour (Continental), the group has been faltering year in year out. I’ve always said the coaching staff are only accountable for a third of the teams success:
    1. COACHING (Looks at performance)-Coaching bench in liaison with the Executive
    2. MENTORING (Career Development)-Executive in liaison with the Coaching bench)3. COUNSELING (Attending to players’ direct needs/behavioral patterns)-Executive in liaison with the Coaching bench)

  2. Vuto is that fwayo akonda kalingalinga kuchila nchito.I hope ba tenant wil punp nzelu in this wasting talent.

  3. Let those pipo be patient they hv only played 3 ZPL games and fresh frm winning the charity shield wr is the problem? Aston Villa hav played 32 W3 D7 L22 now thts a problem. #Anyway not my concern Mighty i be.

  4. You will play second fiddle to Zesco because they are a far better outfit than Power results show. So better make a statment that you hope to compete with Zesco…

It is not just the coach but everything that goes into the club, excutives and everybody. That statment shows lack of apreciation of your rivals so that must be part if the problem.

  5. @ Seen from afar. That is true my man. The statement is does not make sense and it is demeaning and derogatory considering the fact that Zesco has been the better if not best Zambian outfit in recent years. Does dynamos match power in any of the following?: 1.quality of the players 2.renumeration of the players/coaches 2. Running of the club and 4. Facilities at the disposal of the playing personnel. Other things are pretty obvious. It is a fact that they (dynamos) come second best to Zesco. That has been the packing order that the two sides established between themselves. Tto make matters worse he same Dynamos is not good enough to claim the second best club position in terms is the above questions in Zambia.History is history. If they want to remain the best they ought to beat the best instead of practising to be specialists in fault finding and axe-wielding .
