Poll: Mweene the fan’s man of the match against Cameroon
Chipolopolo fans have voted for Kennedy Mweene as the best performer for Zambia on Saturday when the Chipolopolo drew 1 – 1 with Cameroon.
According to a poll on the Zambianfootball.co.zm website the shot stopper leads the poll by more than 50% of the votes.
While there was debate prior to the match if the veteran keeper should hand the mantle to Zesco United’s Jacob Banda, the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner who was voted best goalkeeper at that tournament rolled back the years to help Zambia earn a precious point away.
He made about five crucial saves in the game and was only beaten from the spot.
Other stand out performers on the day include Ziyo Tembo who had a splendid debut alongside his central defense partner Stopilla Sunzu.
Ziyo was massive both in the air and on the ground.
He was unfortunate to concede the penalty as he showed his never say die attitude when he manage to recover after he was beaten by the striker with a sharp turn in the move leading up to he penalty.
Fackson Kapumbu also had a solid game at left back while the Base midfield combo of Kondwani Mtonga and Misheck Chaila showed a lot of tactical discipline.
